Mathers doesn't need dropping - he had a moment of indecision and it cost us dear; that can and does happen to any fullback and they instantly go from hero to zero. It's a bit like being a goalie at times.

He should be back on Sunday and I expect he'll dig deep to make up for the error.

Agree, I really do despair with some fans, the last few weeks he was a fans favorite playing really well, makes a mistake and some wanting him dropped. What's that gonna teach him exactly and are we dropping all player that make clangers, if we are the side would be unrecognizable.

Seen as I have been to the last 2 games I can see Mathers confidence is at rock bottom. I would let him gain confidence playing against kids then put him back in the team. 2 games 2 dreadful errors. Tony deserves a game. Mathers quality player just think he needs a run out at that level to give him confidence then put him back in.

If he's injured, perhaps he needs a rest, if not he plays.

The last thing Richie Mathers needs is more confidence!

He just made a howler - he knew it and the Southstand made sure he didn't forget it for the rest of the night; he's been around the block enough times to get past that by Sunday. He's not Kevin fricking Penny for gawds sake.

Sheesh!

Leave Mathers alone and starting at 1 as he is quality. If he's injured then rest him and use Cockayne at fullback, Mellars on the wing and Walshaw at centre.

Motu is a squad player and isn't ahead of the above I think.

NGB4C - he did what every player has done at times they are only human.Hull scored a try from an error by Amor so we drop him.Aiton was the one who knocked on from the kickoff so we drop our player of the season so far.Up to this point in time Mathers has been one of our better players over the season so far.

Incorrect. Was talking to rich agar on tues at 9s and I said it was in characteristic of aiton to drop the ball. He said he didn't, aiton slipped and southern was arcing round to take the ball up and he kneed it out of his hands! Still I get your point.

Wasn't Tony an interchange hooker for the Kiwi's some years back..........always thought he looked decent there. In fairness tho only saw him play about 2 games doing that
