The NRL is light yeras ahead of SL regarding players, coaching staff and techniques. If you want proof look at Madge, he took an average team to a GF victory. Nathan Brown has not advanced his coaching knowledge in the last three years. Yes he has improved the Giants but they are only a competitive team, not a trophy winning one. Saints are in the same position that Wigan were in 2/3 years ago and it is my view that Brown will not propel you to the next level.
Can I turn this discussion on its head? Why do you think that Brown is a good appointment?
Royce Simmons came from NRL and the will have been plenty more who came from NRL and failed.
Nathan Brown IMO is a very good appointment as he's done a terrific job at hudds who wasn't even at top 8 team at the time but now a regular in top 5, they went to a challenge cup final, challenge cup semi final and also they have topped super league this year with a average bunch of players.
He's developed players such as cudjoe, mcgilvery, brown, grix, carabbtre etc into much better players and all his players speak very highly of him.
He's strict and demands respect from his players and he's not afraid to say what he means.
Hes got hudds playing a better brand of rugby.
He also knows super league like the back of his hand unlike a NRL coach would.
