I think it's about time the bonus point was either adopted for everyone, or dropped for everyone to make the systems consistent.

It's been running for a number of years outside Super league so surely the decision can be made if it's good enough for eveyone now

I've never been a fan, I know the merits, but it really should just be win draw lose.

If you aren't good enough to win you shouldn't be getting a point for gallantry.

I agree certainly for SL, but it might have a place in semi-pro or amateur
leagues. Does anyone know if any amateur leagues use a bonus point system? As it may have some validity there

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

Because, as you well know, amateur & semi-pro leagues are different to fully pro leagues, with different issues & different priorities.

Do you think that SL, CC, CC1 etc all the way to the regional and local amateur leagues and comps have the same issues and priorities? If you do then fine, though I'd seriously disagree. If not, then why assume every rule and system should be the same?

A bonus point provides encouragement to a team to at least fight back against a large scoreline. Pro teams shouldn't need that encouragement, semi-pro & amateur teams have different issues and it can be harder to find the enthusiasm to fight back against such scorelines. So a bonus point system might be applicable in some semi-pro or amateur leagues.

Forget the issues and priorities, mainly because I don`t see the relevance of that.
I`m sure the OP was asking why the need to have the BP in the championships only. Surely the pts allocation should be the same across the board.
How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?

Ok, so the Pennine League 3rd Division has the same problems and should be run exactly the same as Super League or the Championship?
