Personally I rate him think he'd be a great player for us with our coaching set up. He's the best option there is in SL theres better players in NRL but its very unlikey we'll ever see many of them coming over here pretty soon when the cap goes up and new teams are introduced. If we are spending that much though I'd like to be pretty damn sure he's not going to wanna go back home anytime soon.

Denis Betts was an outstanding player (I don't get how anyone could think otherwise unless they only saw him later in his career when he had slowed down a bit) - similar to Joel Tomkins but better, fast and strong and hard.

Betts was World class as a second rower. He had speed and strength to burn. It's no coincidence that he was around when we won the 8. He won the Lance Todd and Man of steel for Gods sake ! I'm hard pushed to name an Ozzie that would have been better.

Similar to Hoffman but better. All round complete SR forward. Anyone who says otherwise couldn't have possibly seen him play.

I get some of the comments about him being a little runt and a few times last night he went for the forearm in the face while diving on an untackled player
And I get the not buying him early because he's cup tied
BUT I also think he can be made to play our systems well also he'd not only give defenders the worry of tomkins coming round the back of him but if he'll go himself
I also don't see all these other options of other players the people who say stay away are coming up with
[quote="Headingley Rhino"]Great win yesterday at our place, there is no denying you are probably the best team in SL as you have proved it all year so I think it's justice done that you have got to Old Trafford. I thought wigan was excellent in the second half and showed why you guys are top dogs this year.
I would love to sign Rangi Chase. Wigan have been excellent this year but the only player we have with genuine flair and unpredictability is Sam but if we signed Chase we would have two players with real flair and I think this would take some pressure and responsibility from Sam. Other super league coaches will definitely not want us to get him. Really hope this happens !!!!!

Don't want to see him in a Wigan shirt, ever.
Nasty thug. Before smashing Tangi, he was clearly spoiling to hit someone for a good few minutes before that, third man into tackles with cheap shots etc.
Currently a big fish in a small pond. Don't think he'd fit in to our style of team play.
And finally, £350,000? Seriously? We could do so much more with that kind of cash, surely?

Warriors Make Rang Turn"
Wigan won't be making a move for Castleford's England half-back Rangi Chase. The Warriors are looking for a replacement for Aussie stand off Brett Finch, who is returning home at the end of the season. But despite speculation this week that Wigan were preparing a bid for the current Man of Steel, reliable sources at the DW Stadium claim they are not interested in him and are looking elsewhere to plug the gap that will be left by Finch. As far as Castleford are concerned, Chase 26 - who is contracted until the end of 2015, after signing a two year extension to his deal last September - is going nowhere. They would play hardball for any club wanting to prise Chase away from the PROBIZ Coliseum and are reported to have quoted a fee of £750,000 to Huddersfield who want a replacement for Widnes-bound captain Kevin Brown. Wigan have already landed Salford scrum half Matty Smith for 2013 as a replacement for Thomas Leuluai.

Ok, everyone has a right to their opinion but, “he’s a thug” I don’t think he is, what he did in one game does not make him Al Capone, a rush of blood, or frustration maybe, though I’m not condoning What he did. I just don’t think it makes him a thug. “A big fish in a small pond” If you mean he’s a very good player in a not so good side, fine, but that does not make him unfit to play in a very good side. Why would his style of play not fit in to the Wigan team? £350,000 what would you suggest Wigan do with this money that would help to solve the problem at the present time? If you mean spend it on someone else, ok, who?
Rock 'n' Roll.

If he was off contract then he would be worth a punt. But certainly not for the type of money thats being quoted.
I hope Wigan have something else up their sleeve - either a NRL half or Danny Brough who would be the only other Super League half possibly good enough.
