how did this guy become our head of youth? someone who cares very little for the game in huddersfield and kirklees and from what i have been told doesnt even know where clubs like newsome and st joes are, am i the only one who would like local lads coming through the juniors and representing the club? too many kids from our area are at other clubs and a lot is down to this mans ineptitude, he is widely disliked by all community clubs so why do we employ him? if thewlis or davey or the directors are not asking questions about what he does then they should, the whole club needs a shake up and current poor form should be the time to start asking questions from top to bottom of the club, we need to be more professional and get the best kids and bring them through like leeds warrington and wigan are doing

Are you serious? The club has its best crop of youngsters ever. Our u16 scholarship side is really good and have given most others a run for their money. U15 not bad either- both contain players from local clubs including newsome. The sad fact is good kids will go to clubs who have won stuff- a youngster of 14 is not bothered about which team is best for their development-a lad I know was offered to be taken on by both wire and hudds-he chose wire -I asked him how wires youth development had made him choose them And how they were better- he shrugged his shoulders and said "dunno -but Warrington won the challenge cup so that's why I chose them"

Any way -it matters not- youth development is to be taken over by the rfl, regional academies are going to be set up and a draft system is to be employed.

that u16 team wasnt put together by him and neither was the 15's which begs my question what does he do? can you jools say without a doubt you know what happens behind the scenes? there are 3 newsome playes in the 15's none in the 16's and if you ask any clubs in hudds im sure they would tell you what they think of him, i know parents who have chose other clubs because they dont like or trust him , he should be wanting better things for the club and how do you know rfl are taking oer youth development? why would an of the super league clubs agree to this, im pasionate about this club and i want it run in the best way possible and from what i have seen andheard i do not think it is the case a present, id love to be proven wrong

It's called delegation-it's what people on charge of stuff do. I know someone who is employed by the rfl to carry out player trials and hes told me It's happening alteady- Barry Jon mathers is setting up the regional academies-one on the go in midlands and various other places.
Ask Shaun Lunt what he thinks of riding-can't speak any more highly of him.
And pete riding turned up to the charity event last night-which is more than our supporters did- a whole 20 people turned up do the whole thing had to be called off. Let's just hope it doesn't result in the club losing money.

im not talking from a point of ignorance im asking the question as the things i have heard from players past and present, parents and coaches alarm me to how the youth department is run if you can tell me different then please do, i dearly want to be wrong on this and im pretty sure shaun lunt is not involved in the youth set up so his opinion on pete riding as a man means nothing, he may be a great bloke but im asking about the job he is doing for the club, iv been supporting this club for 30 yrs and i want the best for it and at present i dont think we have that, ridings job isnt to be pals with the first team it i to forge links with community clubs and bring the best young players to the club and make them want to say, too many different people have told me things that make me wonder what goes on

Riding was the one who brought in and developed Shaun - which is why I mentioned him.
I too have heard stuff from the kids-such as they have to pay for certain training courses and equipment etc that is given by other clubs-thats because we just don't have the money- that's what last night was about and the turnout shows why. He can only run things on the budget he has- if the budget is poor then that will impact.
We are trying to compete with wire, Wigan, saints and Leeds and we just don't have the fan base to do so.

So maybe less spent on the 1st team and more money in the youth structure is the way to go? Keep the kids and develop thm rather than bringing them in later on by doing small things like GIVING them matching training kit, making them feel part of the club. It's all about priorities.

Mable -i agree -but Our supporters won't accept that. They will turn on the team when they don't deliver as showed -unfortunately it appears ken believes we need the support on the terraces first and foremost.

i have no doubt he is a good coach as the 18's have told me but his man management skills are zero, an example of someone promoted above their expertise, we need the best people for the job and with people and management skills, we should be the club all kids in kirklees want to join and its not just about money or giving them kit its about how you treat people, too many people have left this club with a sour taste in the mouth because of how we have treated them from kids to our past captain brett hodgson, there are certain ways to do things and while we have inept people making these decisions we will never progress and have to rely on bringing other players in from clubs rather than focus on doing the job properly with the players we have, i saw an article on the website saying about our scouting system, where are these scouts and what are they doing? when i attend junior games i reguarly see scouts from warrington leeds wakey and bradford at games, where are ours? its about time we expected more from the club, what is the budget as when the club asked me to join their lottery they told me it went to youth development, the gate money at scholarship and 18's and 20's games they tell me goes to youth development
