Some damned good players mentioned in this list of shame, so far. As I've said on many occassions on this board, some people HAVE to have scapegoats.

Sorry if any of the following upsets anyone

Tony Burke (a shadow of what he was at Stains, and that was nowt special at times). We paid a LOT of money for him, too. Lasted 1 season and he got involved in summat dodgy, iirc.
Tony Tatupu (built like a brick poohouse, played like a poohouse). Likewise Currier
Steve Roach (showed NOTHING in a Wire shirt, until a certain SLB turned up, and Roach actually pulled his finger out)
It's finished at Sunderland. Manchester United have done all they can. That Rooney goal was good enough for the three points. Manchester City are still alive here. Balotelli.....AGUERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Leroy Rivett, former Lance Todd trophy winner. Did he even score a try for us?

Yes in the shock win at Hull away when Briers kicked 3 drop goals.

Rivett scored three less tries in his whole Warrington career than he had scored at Wembley.

Sal, 1995-98 can easily be surpassed by the 2002 season, when we not only signed poor players, we also played the few good players we had out of position. Our worst ever signing had to be Steve Anderson as coach, who nearly destroyed the club. Matt Sturm on a 4 year contract was one of the most baffling, but Tommy O'Reilly, Matt Rodwell, Dale Laughton, Dale Cardoza and many more, made 2002 a classic season for crap signings.

A lot of bad players were signed in 2002 but there were also quite a few good players signed that year as well:

Darren Burns
Sid Domic
Nick Fozzard
Mark Hilton
Ben Westwood
Nat Wood
Graham Appo (he was good for the first 2 years of his Warrington career)

One saving grace about the bad signings were they were probably not on much money and apart from Sturm who had been signed for 3 years, they were all gone at the end of the season. When Cullen shipped out all the dross signings from 2002 at the end of that season and started 2003 with the core of players above, we were a better side than we had been in 2001 and Westwood was possible our best signing of the decade.

So actually although 2002 was dire, it was probably better for us in the long run to sign some absolute dross and some quality, than what we were largely getting in 1995-98 which was a lot of very ordinary players and we didn't sign much quality during that time, probably Kohe-Love, Vagana, Nutley and Farrar were the only really good players coming in during four seasons (plus Henare who was like Appo, superb half season then went downhill alarmingly)

Basil wasn't THAT bad. He was ok when he wanted to be. Just a pity that he never applied himself. I think he believed the hype.
After all, we kept him for about 5 seasons, all at the time when we had a lot of competition for places in the pack

I believe Basil is a top coach now, a cult hero at Wire.
Mateaki Mafi was fast but couldn't catch a ball for toffee,
I once went to a party at mateaki's and Richard Henare's flat. On top of the TV was a photo of Mafi and Linford Christie racing each other at the Barcelona Olympics and Henare was skinning up all night.

i can't believe that open ended statement worked. LOL

i asked cull, whether the club, or other clubs were concerned and trying to complain about jason hooper and his shoulder charging twattery on kickers, as he was hurting people(and ended up having to retire having loved his shoulder).

Cull's reply was," we need to get our own house in order first, we've got a player that pushes others into advertising hoardings"

he then came out with the pearler of

"people in greenhouses, shouldn't thrown stones"

pure cull that.

Jon Clarke?????? Had a good career off being average, probably not his fault because he was never a hooker. And before anyone brings stats into it,we all Know if you touch the opposing player it constitutes as being involved? And believe me that's all he did.......... :FEVER:

doesnt that make him a great signing then if he was able to forge a good career despite being only average.

John Thursfield was a less than average hooker he was at warrington as a player for almost ten seasons for only two season was he first choice hooker the rest of his wire career was played out quite rightly in the reserves. oh aye he scored one try.......!

John Clarke was never that bad or showed that much lack of ambition.

get a grip understand what a bad hooker actually is before talking cack, and respect a bloke that got us to wembley by playing a blinder in the 2009 semi but missed out on the final due to the injury sustained in that semi.......

anyway with that rant over why are people listing Kevin Walters he came over here with three boys not long after his wife died of Cancer and couldnt Settle I'd say thats fair feckin do's.

Worst signing was that lad off Gladiators Neil Parsley...I mean if ever a barrell was being scraped that was it.....jesus they put him in the same team as Alan Langer.
