I was at an amateur clubs sportsmans dinner last October and JJB was the guest speaker. Absolutely fantastic speaker. As an aside and without wishing to stir up a hornets nest again, the previous year they had a certain G Schofield.

JJBs introduction was, "well you cant be any worse than the ******* we had last year". Apparantly Schoey was dreadful and almost thrown out of the place, at one point being told to sit down and STFU.

Back OT set the SKY+ for the later showing as I am very keen to see this. I'd have thought Saints fans might have been interested to see what makes someone like him tick.
Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.

 Goes to show you should never judge a book by its cover. I now look at JJB in a different light, cracking interview, very intellectual guy and plain to see that he loves rugby league with a passion, well done JJB , top bloke, top player.... Dodgy accent

As a dedicated Wake supporter i have often loathed the on-pitch JJB. But i thought that JJB came across as a very grounded, down to earth and insightful person, the interview was one of the more telling, i must admit i was very supprised. But that is my own shortcummings in play. Kudos JJB. And for the record my dad has recently payed 200 pound at the vet on his chicken that did die, funny how they tug at the heart strings those cluckers!! by the way hope Trin can turn you over on monday, See you there!!

I'm a Saints fan, and was expecting a fairly drab show tonight (I tend to prefer the interviews with the older players, who are generally less programmed to give the same responses to the same questions), but thoroughly enjoyed it. A really engaging bloke with plenty of what I can only imagine must be contageous enthusiasm.

Are sky sports scraping the barrell now for guests?

Not really in light of tonight's multi SL Championship winning guest.

Shouldnt really be called super league supermen anymore

Agreed. Not sure what some of the recent guests (such as Doug Laughton, Johnny Whiteley or Billy Boston) have actually contributed since the advent of SL in 1996 nor the involvement of others such as Garry Schofield which has been fairly limited.

'Rugby League Supermen' however would cover more bases but might confuse some younger followers.

Ellery Hanley was on the Footy Show last night. Apparently he and Schoey are doing a wests Tigers dinner celebrating Brits that have played for the Tigers (Wests and Balamin). Funnily enough Schoey wasn't wheeled out. Ellery looked as fit as a fiddle and was as well-spoken as ever, and very gracious to boot. Should be an interesting night if Schoey lives up (down) to his reputation.

As an aside, Hanley politely dissed the standard of SL, particularly in comparison to Origin.

Difficult not too. Queensland were weakend slightly going in, busted up further during the match and still looked well capable of defeating a very good NSW team on the night.

Incidentally I thought Greg Bird was immense - almost as good as some Leeds fans opinion of Ablett.

Since he signed his contract extension the other week, he appears to be a man on a mission to set a world record for missed tackles.

Let's hope Hanley and Schoey don't meet and greet the fans over in Oz and square off against one another on a very gracious autograph-signing session.

There's only one winner there in the very gracious stakes and it ain't Hanley.
