On the road games may reach new people on a one-off basis but when it is a long way from your home ground it alienates your regular home supporters. Much as i admire the efforts of the Medway club in supporting this game in Gillingham i think Leyton is as far East as I would go - and I live in SE London which is closer for me. I just think these games are counterproductive let alone giving home advantage away.

Ideally we'd always dream of having a good stadium in or near the centre of London. However, it's been discussed and it isn't really that practical. We live in a huge city where travelling around to the other side of it will mean fans will only attend games in their area. It may over the years build a larger "London" fanbase...but match attendances won't really change.

This is where towns up north benefit. They can have the stadium near enough in town (I know there are exceptions)....so you can get the majority of the town to every game.

Sorry, but the logic in that interview would point towards OTR games becoming the norm......and if so, the clubs dream of its own stadium would seem even more pointless if it were only going to be used for 10 games a season with 3 more on the road

What is actually being said is that it's easier to market a yearly "event" game in Gillingham/Orient/Third venue, with the help of the local amateur side, than it is to attract regular attendees to the clubs home ground, so that's what we'll look at doing every year.....

Sorry if that's negative, but it is what it is....a cop out

was watching an nfl doco. on one of their teams and they used the term bomb to describe those long high passes from quaterback to running back and i think gibson took that idea, realized you cant throw the ball forward in RL and adapted it to a "bomb" kick we have
