Its a great idea, just like a Tri Nations comp with GB, NZ and Oz, the RFL will never go for it, its far too sensible.

Tomkins was born in Milton Keynes wasnt he?? However the system in Australia is based on who you make your pro debut for rather than where your born. On that basis Sinfield would play for Yorkshire and Mcllorum Lancs not the other way round. Obviously in the past in England it has been done on where you were born not the aussie way, in which case Tomkins should not be allowed to play. However that would defeat the point of the fixture. Based on some common sense and no NRL players i would go with the following teams:

Yorkshire

Eden
Hall Atkins Yeaman Briscoe
McGuire Brough
Crabtree Haughton Peacock
Westwood JJB
Bateman

Burrow, Ablett, Kopczak, Lynch

Lancs

Tomkins
Charnley Goulding Watkins Riley
Lomax Briers
Morley Roby Mossop
Hock O'loughlin
Sinfield

Mcllorum, Prescott, LMS, Blythe

Too many average players playing for my liking in this fixture which is why I prefer the exiles game as it gives the chance for the national side to develop partnerships and improve by playing against the strongest opposition available.

Maybe a West side v East side of super league compete against each other? Its get around the players that aren't in Lancashire and yorkshire!

Tbh I would like to see an home nations competition. We probably have players who are holding out for and England call up but never get a chance. They might be able to play for Wales, Ireland or Scotland and We wouldn't have the farce of having players skipping from one nation to another. England will probably dominate for a while but encouraging players to take a chance of playing international RL for another country they qualify to represent. We could have our very own RL 5 nations with England, Wales, Ireland, Scotland and France.

At the end of the season have a GB team and play a test series against either the Aussies or Kiwis each year!

Shame you're not proud of them though

TBH, as nice an idea as an English SOO game would be, we don't have the player pool to make it a worthwhile proposition.

The current England vs Exiles games should be expanded to a 3 game series because I think that IT is the best way to improve the national team by giving them an actual game rather than a practice session against France which, let's be honest, is all those mid-season internationals were.

A home nation competition would be good but again the lack of players for nations beyond England is weak unless we allow Aussies and Kiwi's in under grandparent rules in order to provide a competitive competition.

I think the ending of Steve Precott's playing career, due to an injury picked up in an Origin game put paid to the games. I quite enjoyed them.

As a separate series during the season I’m not sure it would get the support it needs. But at the end of this year England, Wales, and France will play each other. This is likely to be boring. Breaking England up for that series can’t hurt.

Yes there doesn't seem to be much longevity in the current series, so thats why I think that a roses concept would need to be seriously considered by the RFL.

For those who say that there are no Lancashire teams left: I'm from St Helens and I do still feel connected to Lancashire in some way, but the important thing is that there is an inherent rivalry against anything Yorkshire and that's something that the exiles series lacks.
