Would you sign him as cover for either wing next season. I know he isn't the best in defence but his pace could do some damage with our style of play. It looks increasingly like his time is up at Saints and we all know who he really wants to play for. Would surely be a better option than throwing Gelling out to the wing.

The lad has a lot if talent but there's not much point in him signing for someone as cover as he needs regular 1st team action at this point in his career.

Pace? He's pretty slow from what I see. He also ain't that big or strong and doesn't seem capable of beating a man whilst making plenty of errors in defence.

He's got a boyband members haircut and he is an exceptional goalkicker but I'd rather develop Ryan King, Matty Russell, Anthony Gelling etc then sign Foster.

If I were him I'd sound out a move to Union where he'd be a star! I mean even Stephen Myler became a Union star simply because he can kick a goal because he was talentless.

I can just picture us signing Foster and then, when Saints laugh at us, pretending - like they did with Hargreaves - that we've got a good un who they were foolish not to recognise.

The old adage should apply here - if he's not good enough for Saints, he's certainly not good enough for Wigan.

We have plenty of fleet-footed youngsters who can provide wing cover. Plus, I think people are being too quick to write off Gelling. He may have had one bad match against Huddersfield, but Pat Richards had almost an entire bad season before he came good.

Gellings is doing well IMO. He's lucky he's in such a good side but he's growing in to it and has a lot of natural attributes Foster could only dream of.

I'd offer Foster a couple of days a week as a kicking coach for Charnley at a push.

Foster is already following the pattern of numerous Saints homegrown wingers before him: Sean Day, Steve McCormack, Danny Arnold - in that he's presented as the next big thing, has a couple of good seasons on the outside of a decent team, and then they realise that he's crap and quietly get rid.

He may be a smashing lad, as those who know him say he is, but I don't think he's even close to being Wigan standard.

What was the little winger they had at the same time as Arnold who ended up at Oldham? Was it joey something or other? I remember he had a massive head compared to his body.

There's a strong rumour on the Stains board that they have told him to find another club. Widnes / Salford bound I think.
