Saints have been spoilt over the years at right centre, they'll hang Turner after he keeps making the same dumb mistakes.

AP's not stupid and wouldn't pay a transfer fee the club/he couldn't afford.

I'd be quite happy to sign some more talented youngster like Arundel and build a well balanced squad than sign 3 big name high earners and big shot when we get injuries.

the way some are talking on here seem to think we can get who we want id be happy with a squad which is well balanced and has a mix of young british talent and a couple of experienced guys
chase would be a good signing but only if its good business

Whilst not jumping for joy at the names being linked with us I have to say I dont get the panic just yet as we are only just over the half way point of the season.
It may well be that we don't have any players lined up or it could be we have the major signings done but either player, club or both dont want it announcing until the end of the season.

As I posted before in most cases the best signings we have made as a club have over the years been the ones that come in totally under the rumour radar.

At the end of the day Pearson I wouldn't have thought would have invested in a Coach of Gentles ability, a player of Ellis' standing in the game to then just buy cheap options.

IMHO I think the club know who they want and will get them and some of the others being banded about may just be ones we are looking at to improve the fringe players we currently have, but who knows certainly not us the fans.

Think its time to have a bit of faith in Pearson & Gentle and look to the future although I think we are all guilty of getting carried away with this due to us doing better than most of us thought we would this season by being in the mix of the top 4/5. In the grand scheme of things we are progressing and certainly better than previous seasons and the transformation from scraping into the play offs to being true regular contenders was never going to happen over night or in the first season.
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

im my opiion, when AP took charge i thought we would be signing top draw players... he stated the siging of ellis was just the start. and ellis is a great siging dont get me wrong, but since then weve signed jay pitts, who couldnt get in leeds team, joe arundel who lets be fair hasnt really set the world alight this year, maybe through injury i dont know....
and we have lost manu, turner, possibly moa and maybe tickle if rumour about widnes is correct... these are all first choice players, ones of which will be hard to replace especially manu.... not exactly setting the world alight in player recruitment in my opinion...from the outset, we need quality to add to the quality we already have, but weve lost serious quality in manu and thats a fact... i dont think mcrae or gentle ever saw him leaving if im honest and im sure it was a massive blow to both when he stated his intetions same as turner....
to move on we need to be siging players that would get into wigans, sts, wire first team.... and currently we arnet, hence why we cant compete for trophys.... how waire are under the salary cap is beyond me, something in which the RL have to have a seriuos look at, there staring 13 is near-on full interantional standard, which is amazing if were all supposed to be singing of the same song sheet etc, if it is all above board then the money people at teams such as ourselves need to have a proper reality check and ask why they can get the players of the calibre of monoghan x2 , morley, atkins, hodgeson etc etc and we have infirior players...

He has been injured. Had a shoulder op, I think.

so your happy with the clubs recruitment / retention so far for next season??

Disappointed to lose Manu, very pleased with Ellis, pretty pleased with Arundel, not bothered about Turner. Which other confirmed recruitment/retention have I missed? Won't actually be too bothered to lose O'Meley if that turns out to be true, either.

Agree with that and even Ogre who has been good for us as whole but not the same since the latter stages of last season and he seems to be racking up the injury time now too.

For me we are 4 quality players light (a FB, a 6 and next season possibly 2 props).

I would say that although Horne could possibly do a job next season in the role of FB since McKinnon has left, the hole that is now there both defensively and in attack is proof enough of why a quality specialist FB would be a massive advantage to us rather than a make do in Horne and what we are now missing and may well be one of the reasons for the downturn in recent results.

I'm starting to think that the main problem is the quality of rumours you've all been listening to. I have it on good authority that we have Kevin Locke, Jack Reed, Jamie Soward, and David Shillington all tied up on 4 year deals from the NRL (5th year option for Locke), with Jodie Broughton, Ben Jones-Bishop and Craig Kopczak from SL. We're having John Bateman as well, but letting him stay at Bradford for another season as part of the deal. Larne Patrick and Scott Taylor to then also follow the year after, and Liam Watts to be a Hull player before our next game. Shaun Johnson is still undecided. Briscoe is also staying now, as he's heard you can't get a patty butty in Oz.

All of the above was sorted, finalised, and signed 3 days after Pearson bought the club, with the exception of Briscoe's patty revelation which was last week.

Is anyone happier now?

Salary cap, we've got to prioritise.

Letting McKinnon go half way through the season was a poor decision although they maybe more to it.
