Well, it wasn't always... The Babas are essentially a touring club, membership by invite only. They were always more than an England selection game, in fact I'm not sure they ever have been!

Their first international fixture was actually as a fund raiser for a touring side (Aussies I think). It was so successful that eventually most touring sides wanted to play them and, hence they BECAME an international fixture. There are also many pale imitations (I think the French have a version). One of the reasons for their success is that they are able to attract THE BEST current players from around the world - not just from a single competition.

IMO the Exiles will not be an international until they've played at least one other nation (i.e. become more than just a selection game). Besides, the RFL seem to be touting it more as an SOO equivalent ("International Origin", "Mate v Mate", etc).

This is what happens when you sell cheap season tickets for SL matches. Johnny-come-lately fan can't get his head round paying £20 to watch a Rugby League match.

Bradford and Huddersfield have got a real problem in the sense that they can't ever go back without shedding those cheapo fans because they're never going to pay what a Rugby League game is actually worth. These clubs have cheapened the game.

You're right - only watched it for 25 years - lived in Devon before that - WOT A DISGRACE!!! :BEAT:

My real issue with the pricing is the lack of marketing or incentives for fans to travel to both games. Seems I am not the only one going by the attendance at Langtree Park. ATEOTD fans have limited funds - ticket prices are just part of the expense. BIG UP to those who can afford it though - perhaps you are a little rich

Will go to the Galpharm as nearer home - cannot afford the £29 near to my ST seat - but will be there - not enough incentive for both was my point. See you there littlerich!!!

Pricing structure does seem a little steep IMO

Middle of the stands will be empty.
I'm gonna go along with my mrs but even at £21 I doubt I'll be able to pursuade some floating/casual RL fans along - maybe at £15 for the sides or £10 for the ends id have come with another half dozen I bet - who would have come because it's and England game.
Now at midnight all the agents
And the superhuman crew
Come out and round up everyone
That knows more than they do
