Hull Kingston Rovers have confirmed that prop Liam Watts has asked to be released early from his contract.
The 21-year-old was named Super League's 'Rookie of the Year' in 2010 but has struggled to hold down a starting place this season.
Coach Craig Sandercock has used him in nine of KR's 16 Super League games.
Hull FC and Wakefield are among clubs said to be interested in a player still regarded as one of the most promising forwards in the country.
In June 2011, the club suspended Watts and full-back Ben Cockayne for alleged breaches of club discipline.
In April this year Watts was officially told he had no case to answer, but in the meantime he has fallen down the pecking order at the East Hull Super League club.
A Rovers spokesman said Watts had been given permission to talk to other clubs.

Don't know if it means now, or at the end of the season, but he could be a good acquisition for us now and the future.

Maybe the RFL will allow us to make a emergency signing(if we can afford to pay him) because of our current injury woes.

Don't know if you have heard, but we are in a spot of bother in terms of Finances at the mo !

The "Special Measures" from the RFL doesn't mean able to sign other players, let alone re-sign anyone else

I was thinking the same thing, would not be a bad option for us at seasons end or possibly now but expect that would be a stretch

Don't know if you can read, but you seem to have missed this bit.

Yeah, crack on lads, sign someone up, even though you are under Special Measures!! How would the RFL allow us to sign extra players when there are concerns about us being able to pay the existing ones!

It's like being given another credit card by your bank even though you have spent to the max on your other three just because you have run out of milk

Wouldn't go anywhere near him. I think he's overated and has a bad attitude. Never been impressed by him.

The fact that he's asked for release now says to me someone has spoken to him or his agent and he has something lined up. The fact that he's in the knights squad may be helping some hit there quota of youth players to qualify for the extra 100k salary cap.

Good, young prop who'll only get better. Would love us to sort the issues out and sign him.

If he could sort out his attitude he'd be a good signing.

All academic until we sort out our finances though.

What about a swap: you can have Wattsy and we get Kopczak!
