Well done to the Miners , always great to get one other the Pies.
How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?

Leigh Miners 18 v 16 Wigan St Pats

Leigh Miners scored a dramatic late winner to end Wigan St Pats seven match winning run and move them back up to third in the table after Jonny Lloyds late try ensured Miners remain unbeaten so far this season at Twist Lane. With the weather being terrible in the build-up to the game the conditions under foot were slippy has both teams got stuck into each other in what was a physical derby encounter throughout. The game was an arm wrestle from start to finish with the visitors getting the upper hand first when Miners let a last tackle kick bounce and that was picked up by winger Jim Brown who went into score and give Pats a 4-0 lead. Miners battled back and got themselves in front when Winger Jonny Carroll barged his way on the right, Jonny Youds converting out wide to give the score 6-4. From the next set after scoring Miners went back to back, going forward well getting into decent field position and from the kick St Pats full back spilled the ball and that was picked up by Liam Coleman who went into score under the sticks, Youds converting to put Miners 12-4 in front. And that’s how it stayed going into the sheds at half time after a tough opening forty minutes.

St Pats come out strong in the second half and got themselves within two points when Tony Suffolk went over on the right to give the score 12-10. Miners were their own worst enemies in allowing Pats to have chances to get back in front after turning the ball over to cheaply trying to force passes when all they needed to be doing was knocking sets off and keeping Pats down inside their own half. St Pats retook the lead with just over ten minutes when a kick through the Miners defence was picked up by Danny Pyke who went into score, Pyke converting his try to give the score 16-12. As time ticked down it looked as if Pats would see the game out but with less than two minutes remaining Jimmy Muir's grubber kick towards the post was chased hard by Jonny Lloyd who grounded at the last minute before going dead much to the delight of all the Miners players, coaching staff and spectators after the St Pats defender left the ball to go out of play, Youds landing the conversion to give the final score 18-16.

Next week Miners are at home to Myton Warriors.
