Promotion to the Super League from 2019 will be done on a one up, one down basis with the Super 8s being scrapped.

The top side in the Championship will be promoted; the bottom team in Super League will be relegated.

No decisions have been made regarding the structure of the Championship and Championship One from 2019 onwards.

More details on this story...

http://www.skysports.com/rugby-league/news/12196/11403657/rfl-and-super-league-in-talks-over-rugby-leagues-structure

It is becoming increasingly apparent that Super League (Europe) have been acting independently of the RFL and that the announcements made by them are no more than a 'wish list'.

There's clearly a power struggle going on between the two bodies. If the RFL have a backbone they ought to come down on Super League (Europe) like a ton of bricks for bringing the game into disrepute. The Championship and Championship One clubs had no say in the recent announcements and it looks as though the Super League teams are acting with self-preservation in mind, rather than for the benefits of the game.

The big questions is: 'Who is really running rugby league in this country? Is it the RFL or is it the current Super League teams?"

Yes, I've no doubt that Sky will have a major influence over what happens. Without their cash the game would be in a mess and money talks.

Other broadcasting options will be available when the current Sky deal ends in 2021 but I suspect that continuing with the same partner would be the RFLs preferred choice.

The Halifax chairman echoes words that will no doubt strike a chord with everyone outside the big league:
