To be fair, that could easily be a case of someone making 2 plus 2 add up to 5.

100%, Hastings isn’t contracted to Salford so we would have no need to do a deal with them.

That’s true but not a bad deal even if we don’t make it. I can’t fault Powell’s effort and commitment but for me he isn’t good enough to be first choice in a team challenging for silverware.

And I'm afraid that's very obvioius too. To be a really top side - and if anyone can speak from the experience of that, it's us - you have to pose a threat from everywhere on the park. Carry passengers and you'll get found out.

...... but we might need the cap space, and they would need a halfback of they lost him (not saying it's happening like)

I read an article saying Powell to Salford and we get Hastings.

Heard this one a few times now.

Anyone else heard that Drinkwater has stated he won't be at Dragons for next season?

Reported by writer Steve Brady.

Said he'd be happy at an English club in SL or a return to the NRL.

Would be a wonderful foil for Williams, not sure what sort of salary he'd command after a stellar few months in France though.

On Powell, I can see the temptation of letting him go if we're looking at a new scrum half for next year. Even so I think we'd be making a massive, massive error in the long run. A Powell/Ganson rotation at hooker could be a real strength of ours once Tommy hangs up his boots, wouldn't be wanting to waste that for maybe one season of having a better 7.

I'd personally sooner have Hastings. For me he has more tools to his game, namely a running element to his play, but Drinkwater would be a big improvement on what we currently have as a 7.

At 9? I'd have Tommy and Danny Walker on interchange. Then Walker/Ganson or bring in another 9. Powell is decent as a 9, but decent isn't good enough.

Yes I read it a few days ago, I think it was on Love Rugby League. Catalans have signed Matty Smith for 2019 and as such Drinkwater is surplus to requirements, which I find utterly bizarre.

I’d take Drinkwater at Wigan TBH, I think his and GW’s play would compliment each other well. It would be a very astute signing IMHO and I’d rather him than Hastings.
