I haven't seen the TV coverage yet so not sure if it comes across on there but for anyone at the match the real standout is just how much organising he does off the ball. I think this plays a big part in explaining why we seem to drop off so markedly when he's spelled (although we clearly miss his on the ball contributions too!)

I'm guessing that's, in part, why he's under appreciated by certain people. Maybe they think TV gives the whole picture and, quite simply, it doesn't. If you replaced 'own fans' with 'armchair fans' in your post above perhaps it would go some way to explaining it.

that's something that Sam used to do a lot as well. Having lost him and with Lockers in the '1 injury away from retirement' phase of his career, who is going to step into that role when he is rested this season; and in the long term?

is Sammut that man for this term?

He did do a lot of organising in the preseason games and we looked the better for it so hopefully he will rise to the challenge. That said, he needs to cement his place in the team and we haven't seen how he'll go at SL level yet so I think we need someone else to step up too. Last season that was Sam, as you say. Maybe Hardaker once he's settled?

Plain to see they're trying to play a more expansive game and I'm all for it but defensively we're looking a bit soft. Too much arm grabbing going on for my liking.

Still made good yards coming away from his line last night and although I agree he has the odd drop in him from a high ball pint of view I don't agree with any of the other criticisms.

The lad is unbelievably fit and works so hard. He seems a really likeable guy but he’s got some basic weaknesses that I struggle to ignore. Ultimately our best two wingers are sat in the stands.

Never seen as much snatching, even from defensive rocks like Tommy Leuluai.

Just had a look at Lockers stats. 29 tackles (second highest), 112 metres (3rd highest) and a try assist!

I think we're still sub-2018, and say it again: if anyone is genuinely worried that Shaun Edwards won't come if Lammy wins everything, their fears must be reducing by the week.

Early days yet, of course, and we are certainly better than Leeds. They weren't even at the races in the 2nd half yesterday. With the exception of a brief purple patch late on, they got bossed and dominated by a side that wasn't even on form.

But yeah, too many handling errors by Wigan and too many missed tackles. Better teams will make us pay.

props are there to carry the ball forward and make tackles. maybe if clubb stopped closing the kicker down and hitting them after they have kicked it then he might be able to play for more than 5 minutes a time. I think his place is very much under pressure, I have been a clubb fan but with these new restrictions he needs to play more minutes.
