I’ve been very critical of the RFL for some time now but I have to give credit where it’s due. They seem to have secured a very good deal with Coral as sponsor of the Challenge Cup, including the women’s competition. The double header for the semi final of the men’s competition will now be a triple header and will include the women’s final on the same day in a 7 figure deal.

Can’t ignore this, good work at the RFL.... for a change!!

The next step to improving the comp shoukd be to bring the final date forward so it’s not as close to the Grand Final and fans don’t face rail travel chaos every year. I think I read it’s going to June from next year and it’s about time. I always thought the BBC held that option back but apparently they’ve been pushing for an earlier slot for years. It probably just didn’t fit in with Big Nigel’s holidays had we moved it to May/June sooner.

Thought that was already sorted for next season bringing it forward it was too late to organise for this season.

The Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium is to be moved from August to July in 2020.
The Rugby Football League have signed a new deal for the final to remain at Wembley, its traditional home for almost a century, until 2027.
Chief executive Ralph Rimmer said: "This is a significant and exciting day for our relationship with Wembley.
"Next year we will celebrate the 90th anniversary of the first Challenge Cup final at Wembley in 1929."
This is the first change to the scheduling of the cup final since it was moved from its traditional May berth to the August Bank Holiday weekend in 2005.

It would be interesting to seeif the women's final were to make it to TV at least on the red button.
