There has been plenty of things us fans can moan about, but not sure how this is one of them.
It’s a trial. The best time possible for trials is preseason. What do we have to lose? He proves himself or he doesn’t.
I agree with you gotcha, nothing to lose here.
It does seem against what a lot of us were thinking which is that we were clearing out some squad players to sign a quality prop. If we did sign Donaldson he would likely be seen as a squad player. But then I have no idea what Furner and Sinny are looking to do.

Agreed.
The reality is that if were unable to offload the likes of Walters, Mullally, Handley etc - we're probably unable to fit another high paid player under the cap (Ikahihifo etc)
Therefore the sensible thing to do would be to look at the likes of Donaldson, who i think was pretty good in his early days playing at Bradford with Whitehead (?) - as a stop gap.
If he proves himself, great. If not, no great shakes - a la Luke Thompson.
Sometimes players are thought average or not SL standard until they join the right team/coach. McShane and Amor for example. For some reason they didn't click at Leeds. (I was always a McShane fan).

Donaldson was never as good as Whitehead, even in their early years. However he gives 100% and is a brave as they come but IMO is too lightweight to make enough impact. He's heaps better than Walters though.
I'll take a Peak Ryan Hall over him all day every day.
Not for me. Both at their peak you could see the fear in Les opposite number at times that never was there for Hall. Hall has been an absolute gem of a winger and will go down as one of the best ever, but I think Les pips him.

True, the Murray pack wasn't all superstars, but the likes of Farrell & Fleary certainly bought into what Muzza wanted and formed a formidable unit. Hopefully Furner can engender a similar spirit.

Its close. If Hall has a good couple of years in the NRL he takes it. His international record as a winger stacks up against anyone. Great winger big Les mind, on his day unstopable.
Big Les ,a fabulous winger but Ryan Hall takes it for me.Nobody got the better of him club or country. No other winger made more meters on a consistent basis than him
