Bret Delaney has been one of the longest serving overseas players for Leeds and having started as a so so sort of a centre he developed under McDermott into a very effective second rower and at times a stand in prop. Throughout this time he never gave anything but his best and deservedly kept his starting place in the first team during their most fruitful years and would have been one of the first names on the teamsheet each week.
For the stars of a rugby side to stand out and strut their stuff there is an equal need for the workhorses in the team to put in the hard work to create the platform for success. Delaney together with JJB and Ablett have done the grunt for Leeds over many seasons, often turning out when carrying injury niggles, and have been underrated for their consistent, reliable and often their performances are undervalued.
Well done Bret you have been a top man for Leeds and good luck with your future career.
