Toronto Hang On For London Win : Sat Sep 01, 2018 6:41 pm

Toronto Hang On For London Win

Hull KR's victory had just pushed the Toronto Wolfpack into the Million Pound Game position and they knew that a home victory against London Broncos was critical. If  they could win by thirty-three points or more, then they could finish the weekend in second place. The Broncos were in town, themselves with an eye on the top three and knowing that a six point win would lift them above KR and their opponents today.
Both sides looked strong as they emerged into the Canadian sunshine at the Lamport Stadium. Honours were shared in 2018 with a win apiece and both sides came into todays game on the back of narrow losses a fortnight ago.

7,557 in Toronto : Sun Sep 02, 2018 12:48 am
7,557 was the attendance in Toronto for the Toronto Wolfpack vs London Broncos. The scan of the stands by the TV cameras shows that this announced attendance is highly credible.

This attendance, which English M62 clubs like Salford and Wakefield can only dream of, shows that the Toronto fans are loyal to the team and the game. Bright days ahead for Canadian rugby league, especially if Toronto can get promoted into Super League.

Shame their crowds haven't picked up as the 8s gains momentum (yes, I'm aware they pull more than Leigh, Wakey, London, whoever) but I'd be more convinced of their future if their was real evidence that the city was increasingly getting behind them

JESUS WEPT :WALL: HOW MANY TIMES?????
£20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000.
The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.

There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them. :BEAT:

Could you imagine Wakefield or Salford putting on such a spectacle with fighter jets flying over head and nearly 8000 die hard fans in the ground?

A greater Manchester team vs West Yorkshire could though.

As you were obviously at the ground, did you enjoy the airplane display and fine beers on offer?
