I have a bit of sympathy but Diskin says they’ve been trying to get it sorted for 3 months. That’s not actually that long a time frame to sort out visas/travel etc. Why weren’t they trying to sort it as soon as the fixture list was announced? It’s clearly their biggest logistical challenge of the year so surely you’d get that sorted first?

Agreed. But I don't recall the League One clubs last season having problems in taking a full squad to Toronto ? Maybe Canada have tightened it's VISA laws in 2018.

Don't they take advice from the RFL on this though?

Scrap that it seems they don't which is beyond belief in itself. It does raise a number of questions over player welfare though.

I don’t know to be honest, but I’d still say it’s the clubs responsibility rather than the RFL’s to make sure they can get to a fixture.

You’re right I don’t remember many League 1 clubs having trouble getting there, so maybe you’re right with that. Would explain it I suppose.

How much has it cost Batley to fail to get a full squad there? Money down the drain for a club being run on a shoestring (when they last reached the Middle Eights, one of the national papers quoted their annual playing budget as £330,000).

This time round travel and spartan accommodation are paid for by the Canadians. What happens if the latter do get promoted? That agreement ends. What then happens should Toronto be relegated at some point in the future? How many shoestring clubs would fail to fulfil the away fixture, take the smaller financial hit of a fine, forfeit the points and hand the league leaders shield to the insurgents?

Flaming quarter-baked idea from the outset!

I tell you what. Regardless of who gets promoted, the battle for top 4 has been so much more exciting than super league. All clubs have played their part...even Leigh :D

Give you that LJ, Leigh played their part by bombing for the first month and a half of the season.

It's now VERY exciting for us, but not in a bone-on way.

It should be noted that the post to which you reply, pointed out a genuine, possible (probable) complication for Championship clubs and was not a snide sideswipe at Toronto from a Leyther. Seem to recall that Big Nige's salary was somewhat on a par with the above-mentioned Batley budget.

If you're a king, benight (stet) him.

took me 5 minutes to get my visa /eta authorised from the canadian embassy website, why does it take rugby teams 3 months?

Was it a tourist visa (putting dollars into their economy), or was it a working visa (taking them out)? BIG difference.

Yes, their own clubs would be paying their wages, but they surely are not required to take their own tuck tins with them, are they?
