It is obvious that having Toulouse in Super League will create a local derby with Catalans. This will boost the popularity of rugby league in southwest France. It will also give French, English and other international rugby league fans a French club game on TV every week.
It will be a winner in so many ways having Toulouse in Super League.
JESUS WEPT HOW MANY TIMES????? £20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them.

Terrible Toulouse were lucky to get a Point from their home game with Laughable London....having dropped 5 Points at Home to Luckless Leigh, Limp London and twisted Toronto, they find themselves with a must win scenario v Have-a-Go Halifax at the Shay or the prospect of being overtaken in the race for the top 2 spots. Lolly Laden London are the key to the finishing positions.....but trifling Toulouse will loose 6 from 7 if they scrape into the 8....losing to Fev and Batley shows how poor they actually are away from home.

Toulouse were robbed yesterday. A shocking call given as a Toulouse knock on, when the ball came off a London player denied them the win but, it was an entertaining game. The bigger issue will be where they play if/when they gain promotion. However, based on yesterdays performance, neither they, nor London appear to be ready for SL.

Why not ready? You surely don't expect them to join Super League with exactly the same team that they have now!
Terrific Toulouse could easily retain their current outside backs and halves, but need another prop, two second rowers and a lock from NRL ranks, in order to be placed in the top 8 of Super League alongside Catalans.

Over 200 km travel is hardly what you'd call a local derby?

The Funding for the top 4 is what everyone is playing for....Toulouse, London, Toronto and Leigh have the largest wage bills......Fev and Fax are playing for bigger pay packets next year....it really is going down to the wire, but as you say, other than Toronto and maybe Leigh none of the Championship sides look good enough.

But other clubs have already started recruiting for the 8’s. There is a deadline you know!
