I trotted out that line, because its alright saying get rid but he has to be replaced, who's available? and even if they are available would they come to Leeds. The only people trotting out lines are the people that just say get rid they're past it, a bit like Sal with Peacock in 2011 when he trotted that line out ;-)

i don't think players are irreplaceable but if you do get rid they do have to be replaced.

Edited to add, the wingers are not our priority are they and Briscoe has actually been playing well after his challenge cup debacle last year. How do we know what deal he has taken it could be a vastly reduced contract for all we know.

My view is completely different to yours I think on this subject. Not in that I think Briscoe is bad, I think he is a lot better than he gets credit for, but I don't think either of our wingers offer what I would like to see going forward.

For me, I strongly do not believe that Wingers should be anywhere close to the top earners at your club, not in a salary capped sport. You get more out of other key positions with big money. For that reason I would actually let Hall go before Briscoe, simply because he is such a top earner and to be frank is not the winger he was. But as that is not going to happen, and Briscoe was also out of contract, for me I don't see why a change wasn't made.

The better wingers around these days, are not the big crash bang yardage ones like Hall. Give me a Makinson, Charnley, Johnson, Manfredi (fit), Burgess, Talanoa, or many in the NRL, anyday. Something different on one wing at least would be a nice change. But even then, I still think you can get away with an average winger on an average wage, if you have correctly allocated your cap to the key positions to ensure whoever is on the wing gets the ball.

I actually agree with quite a lot of that, although I'm not sure about getting rid of Hall, he's top meter maker in SL and gets us out of a lot of trouble, if he had a centre in the Senior mood he would still be at the top of the try lists every year IMO.

With Briscoe don't get me wrong there are better wingers out there, I'd like to see Johnstone in a leeds shirt and I would have actually preferred to still have BJB with us if I'm honest.

Given Leeds' wage structure Briscoe, signed as an international, will inevitably have had to accept a salary reduction given he is no longer that. The way Leeds run their salary cap isn't rocket science. It will be a significantly reduced deal - obviously re-signing at his previous level would not have been a good idea.

Talk of getting rid of Ryan Hall is mind-boggling.

Irrelevant who plays on the wings for us currently as neither see the ball in attacking positions, just used in yardage to clear our lines from kicks.

In that respect IMO both Hall and Briscoe do that job well. IF for example we had Tom Johnstone from Wakefield I think he'd be lost in our structures as he wouldn't get good ball in attack to show his speed/finishing and I don't think he'd be anywhere near as good in clearing our lines as Hall and Briscoe as he's not that type of winger.

Given how he played for England I'm not sure there's any evidence that Hall isn't a very good winger still. You could make a strong argument that the problem is service, or lack of it. Most of the wingers Gotcha named would be hopeless in the NRL. Hall I reckon would go really well even now. The difference is physicality pure and simple.

I agree it's not the Leeds wingers fault they don't get enough ball and are purely used as extra forwards metre munching bringing ball from their own line. If you give both Hall or Briscoe a chance they usually score. Briscoe had a terrible year last season, he knows that, but generally has been safe this year and has done ok.

Funny that every week we are told "all our big men are out" "we've no big men in middle" yet we still continue to play down the middle instead of using our backline.

Last week in final 10 mins we was behind on scoreboard and McGillvray was sin binned yet not once did we move ball to Hall's wing. It's absolute amateurish at times.

Tom Johnstone's name keeps cropping up amongst fans but Leeds would ruin the kid. He would be starved of chances and ball and be used as a battering ram until his confidence was shot to bits.

he would under the current coach. I agree though both our wingers are fine. it's how we play that's the issue. 5 driver and a kick.

Both Briscoe and Hall had great games last night against Saints. How anyone thinks we should be getting rid of them is utter madness.

I will take my hat off to Briscoe last night, he played like the player we signed from Hull and the player we all thought we were getting, more of the same please.
Why anybody wants to get rid if the best british winger in super league history is crazy.both showed Makinson up last night.Makinson is a very good player but not in Galks class ir Briscoe when he plays like that. Happy to admit that maybe i am wrong.
