its fairly well known that Wigan didn't really give him much of a chance last year, so it is understandable that someone away from his home country, having to move his young family over here, to then be given little game time and then to be slaughtered for it when he couldn't capitalise (because the team on the whole was in poor form and badly instructed last season) to lose his head a little and appear to want away. I even recall rumblings that he was playing the way Wane asked him to, but when the team didn't perform he got most of the slack, especially after the Leigh loss. a little unfair if you ask me, as he was one of our better players that night!
but like you say he has proved Wigan wrong so far, and is fully deserving of his new contract.
if anything this is an even more important signing than Isa, Marshall or Davies, because this shows that with commitment and knuckling down you can achieve anything - even proving your own coach wrong!
