A Canadian gets the nod from "Bellyache." : Fri Apr 13, 2018 4:24 pm
A Canada eligible player named Ryley Jacks has been selected as half back for the Melbourne Storm this week. He qualifies because his father is Canadian born.

Jacks played very well in a Melbourne victory over Newcastle, setting up a try. He is likely to be retained in the half back role. Coach Craig Bellamy (aka "Bellyache") would have been impressed.

This is great news for the Canadian team as we prepare for the qualifier playoffs for the 2021 World Cup. Having an NRL experienced half back will do wonders for the Canadian team. His brother can play five eighth. Now what we need to find is a full complement of talented forwards and outside backs. If Toronto Wolfpack can make it to Super League then that development of Canadian talent will become more likely.

It's great that Canada have some eligible players, especially of NRL "quality" but, you refer to Canada as "we" and you are supposed to be French ?
Which team is you preference or, are you "glory hunting" now that Catalan are in wooden spoon position

Carcassonne is on the train line of southwestern France between Toulouse and Narbonne. It is a glorious ancient city and a bloody long way from modern Canada.

I support Toulouse, Toronto and London for promotion to Super League.. I support the revival of Catalans by the appointment of a new coach.

I hope and pray that a team from New York gets off the ground and soon into Super League. Having Toulouse, Toronto and London already in Super League will make the New York public more appreciative and respectful of the Super League competition.

Let's just hope Toronto actually play Canadian players if they get to Super League and don't turn out to be another Catalans.

It is going to be harder than in France to find local Canadian players, because the game has no domestic roots. Over time Canadians should start playing the game, be it former rugby union players, or young American and Canadian football players who missed out on the professional ranks. We need this to happen in order to make Canada a competitor in international rugby league, especially for the RL World Cup. But meanwhile the Toronto fans do not care, so long as the Toronto Wolfpack wins a majority of its games and plays entertaining rugby league.

To be fair to Catalans they play more home grown players than a few SL clubs do
