Nottingham Outlaws Secure Permanent Home : Tue Apr 10, 2018 4:52 pm
After more than 30 years of nomadic existence, Nottingham Outlaws have finally secured a permanent home for rugby league in Nottingham. Nottingham Outlaws are delighted to announce that they have acquired the former Greenwood Meadows football ground on Lenton Lane and have moved in with immediate effect.

Lenton Lane is in close proximity to both universities, meaning even closer links to the university teams. It also provides us with long-term security, and further opportunity to expand our successful youth and juniors sections.

For anyone interested, our first game at our new home is Saturday 28th April, in the Yorkshire Premier Division against East Hull. Facebook event here - https://www.facebook.com/events/1974969685908410/

For anyone who wants more information about the ground, see here - http://www.nottinghamrl.co.uk/2018/03/2 ... nent-home/

If anyone wants to donate and help us turn Lenton Lane into a venue that both Nottingham Outlaws and rugby league can be proud of, you can do so here - http://www.nottinghamrl.co.uk/project-30/

Thats good news, especially the 40 year lease of the ground from the city council.

Fantastic news. I played rugby at uni in Nottingham for a spell and the links between uni clubs and Outlaws is there for all to see. Good to see they've got a place to call their own and hopefully this allows them to kick on.

Glad to hear it. Out of interest, why have you chosen to play in the Yorkshire league rather than NCL Div 3?

Excellent news.

The game needs at least two strong Nottinghamshire clubs in the top flight for it progress, and this is a great first step towards achieving that.

Think they will need to now show a bit of sustainability to be recommended by the clubs. This is a massive step for them though and if the junior section is in line can see an application shortly for them. Would be great to see them in the conference

I think there were some off-field criteria that we didn't satisfy when we last considered it, so our post-match venue was a pub a 5 minute drive away from the ground for example. However, I think part of it was just the club was just coming out of Conference League South with some ridiculous travel involved (the league comprised Nottingham, West Wales Raiders, Valley Cougars, Torfaen Tigers, Gloucester All Golds and London Chargers), so we were quite happy to have relatively small distances for a bit!

The more the merrier! The 28th is a massively significant game for the club, but the 12th May we have a double header too which should be good.

We've ran juniors (and a women's section) for a number of years now. Unfortunately, we don't get any support and arranging matches is often a struggle. The new Player Development League might help in this regard. The other thing is that I think no one team exists in isolation, so even on occasions when we have been really strong with our juniors, it's difficult retaining interest with nobody to play. One year I coached the u14s/u15s and we had 20 lads down at training every week to start with and nobody to arrange matches against. You can imagine what turnout was like by the end of the Summer...
