Sounds like a brilliant idea to me.

The talent pool we have is probably just about right for ten teams to be competitive.

Why are Salford in SL2. Didn't they finish ahead of us last season?

So basically it’s the top division and the second division as it has always been, but for some weird reason we all play a game against the next division down. And we call them both ‘super’ leagues even though they are two DIVISIONS, one deemed to be lower than the other.

It’s just the same thing. Why not just have a huge 20 division super league? With some hammerings of the less financially able, part-time teams. That’s what happens now anyway.

It’s not the format that’s wrong it’s the strength of the game from grass roots upwards. And the grass roots won’t better without more participation, which is created by better promotion and publicity of the game - internationals etc. Having two super leagues won’t get more kids playing the sport.

Well said easywire ,the only advantage i can see is that it might give less well supported teams bigger gates when the big boys come to town. It is also ,obviously, a way of making sure the overseas teams don't miss out on a place in superleague, so stifling the growth plan.
Is this a proposal for next season i wonder ?

Probably cos that'll be a 38 week competition plus challenge cup, plus play offs, we'll be starting the next season before we've finished the first one.
