This is just Marwan talking rubbish. Cumbria is a large area, with a few small towns spread out. He hasn’t even said where he would like his new club to be based. If a Cumbria side ever was to get into Super League it’s likley they would be based in either Barrow, Whitehaven or Workington. Where else could the club be based in Cumbria?

Why he thinks a brand new club would do better than one of the existing clubs is beyond me. If he chooses to invest in one of the existing clubs that would be great.

Out of the 3 semi professional clubs in Cumbria, only 1 of them is in the Championship, and there a club likley to struggle in the Championship. Before any of them can make a realistic aim at getting into Super League they need to become strong Championship clubs.

There was a short-lived team based in Carlisle IIRC and at least there's a football club there with groundshare potential. But the main problem is as stated: a low population density mainly spread between a few scattered medium-sized towns.

I have though about this idea for a long while and it could work, there is a huge RL following in the area however density isnt so great.

We should be suppoeting the region and this might do it. It might also cause grief amongst the current clubs

Nice idea but don't think the supports of those clubs would then follow a new club, it would have to be one in all in. Maybe a Cumbria academy team would be the best way forward at first.
Honestly think a combined Cumbrian super league team should have been in from day one, think 20 odd years later and a new culture would have been formed, not sure that boat has gone now.
