Congratulations to both players, very well deserved for the hard work that has been put in.

Hard on Ashursr though, think he really is the form second rower of the competition, though as Pop Tart pointed out, there is also plenty of good competition in that position

Ward and Currie were injured for most of last year, and Hughes is diabolically crap. McMeeken has also started the year poorly apparently.

Great news. Congratulations to both.
Even now with our success they'd have to be exceptional to be in while playing for Wakefield.

As for Ashurst.
Ward, Bateman, Currie and McMeekan are in front of him for England
Hadley and Jack Hughes in front for Knights.

Not sure what your saying here?

Is it your opinion that those players are better than Ashurst in which case I don't think you could be more wrong in some cases.

Or are you just re-saying what I assume to be Wayne Bennetts opinion?

As far as I'm concerned Ashurst has been unlucky, however he plays in one of the few position where SL hasn't struggled to produce. I could certainly pick at least a dozen British players who are up there with Matty or close and all of whom wouldn't weaken the England team.

All Matty can do is carry on with us in the hope of finding the next level, one where he can't be ignored - he certainly has it in him imho.

Just pointing out the players that have been chosen in front of him. Not passing judgement.

It is "Fifita" not "Fafita"

If you don't know the difference between "there", "their" and "they're" I might get annoyed.

Ward played 26 games in all comps last year for Leeds.

Not enough games played this year for them to go making changes imo. As for the Knights squad it does look an age limit to it. McShane and Houghton would get picked ahead of Cunningham at hooker you'd imagine if others like Hodgson, Roby, Clark were injured but they aren't in the Knights squad as they've gone for young less experienced players. Ashurst at 28 would surely be the clear oldest if in the Knights squad.

Didn't Ben Cockayne play for England Knights when he was 30?

Possibly, can't recall for certain. But the Knights have been ditched since that time and now reintroduced along with the move over towards the Etihad campus with Sinfield overseeing the international setup then looks like the new look Knights squad is very much focused on younger players. For older players it might be a case of main squad or nothing.
