That Morgan Knowles has been harshly punished for his tackle on the Catalans player that saw him red carded. It was an abhorrent attempt of a tackle, malice or no malice and deserves to be punished.

It wasn’t good, not only did he lift and turn he appeared to drive him into the ground too. He deserves a long ban.

Agree I watched it on tv it did not look good at all we do not need this sort of thing in the game

back tackle rightly straight red, it does make it easy for the ref as no one else invoked, a spear tackle and red card in most eras of the game. i said at the time if thats not a straight red then we may as well not bother at all with red cards.
soon evened it up with a very debatable yellow card on the catalans player, not sure what he could have done to avoid that, penalty at worst.

No problem whatsoever with the red card and a heavy ban. It may not have been intentional but it was very dangerous.

A ban should make players think about their technique a bit more.

Absolutely - it was a ridiculously dangerous tackle that he could have mitigated; but he chose to exacerbate it by pile-driving the victim into the ground.

Straight red, long ban, no arguments - and if he appeals, extend it for the brass neck.

I have seen Saints fans on social media saying that because there was no intent, he should only get 2-3 game ban max. Ludicrous. Intent or not, if someone like Gareth Hock did that tackle they'd want him to be lined up for the gulliotine.

It was bad. I called for a red myself, and I was supporting Saints. I also thought the Yellow given to the Catalans player a few minutes later was a bit soft, and shouldn't have been given.

The ban should be whatever the ban should be for a spear tackle. Given how clear it was, I'd sort of hope that the RFL has clear precedents and policies for length of ban for spear tackles. Mind you, this is the RFL we're talking about!

I believe the rfl have tweaked the appeals process slightly this year. Appeals can actually backfire and see the suspensions increased so clubs might think twice.
