I second this. I've seen nothing in Bretherton that makes me think he's even close to being a regular first team prop at Wigan.

It’s a shame that he’s not kicked on in any way, shape or form because in his academy days I thought he had real potential.

He’s still very young for a prop but he’s missing the ingredient I think is most important in a young prop and that’s aggression. I’m not saying he needs to belt people but he should be running with aggression and really getting stuck in defensively.

Who is the last really good prop we produced? Mossop was pretty good for a season or two I suppose but regularly injured. Can't think of one before that

We haven’t really produced a top one in decades have we. I do like Sutton and even though he’s got plenty to work on, I do feel he has as much potential as any young prop we have brought through in a number of years.

Very early days but I liked a couple of the young props on show against the Skolers. I thought Kilner off the bench looked an excellent young talent. He’s got a good frame (looked a bit like these big Aussies we saw in the WorldCup-Dave Klemmer and was it McClean) to build on and looked very aggressive.

As this was a injury that was made worse by the player and the RFL, I take it his wage isn't being paid by the club until its recovered....

.....thought not.

He had two good seasons when Maguire was in charge, and maybe he would have kicked on but for injuries, but I doubt he was ever a player the opposition talked about before the game, or close to getting an England call up. When you look at the calibre of player we have recently produced in other positions, we clearly lack at prop and hooker
