After watching this week's ITD it strikes me were entering the new season with a very small playing squad and even carl's recognises that but whenever the subject of maybe bringing in a couple of players gets put to him he deflects and tries to move the question on, if we pick up a couple of injuries early and it affects our league position and form he can't blame bad luck this time we have had enough time to assemble a squad large enough to cope. ITD is 5% updating fans on what's happened the past week and 95% talking about the commercial side of things.
With the current season's squad as follows, we've got 13 forwards and 11 backs. With Jordie hedges probably a possible at 13, that would increase the number of forwards to 14.
Backs
Connor Bower
Sam Doherty
Liam Harris
Jordie Hedges
Jordan Howden
Aaron Jones-Bishop
Jack Miller
Richard Owen
Jack Sanderson (loan from Hull FC)
Jason Tali
Liam Welham
Forwards
Ryan Boyle
Zac Braham
Kieran Cross
Brad England
Kyle Kesik
Jordan Lane (loan from Hull FC)
Jez Litten (loan from Hull FC)
Charlie Martin
Jason Muranka
Ross Osborne (loan from Hull FC)
Connor Scott
Russ Spiers
Brandan Wilkinson
I'm not familiar enough with the Hull lads to know how many of them are suitable props but my main concern is that unless the Hull lads can fill the gaps we appear to have only four front-line props: Zac, Connor Scott, Russ Spiers, and Ryan Boyle.
With having four lads on loan, the scope to bring in extra loan or DR players mid-season to cover injuries is limited.
I hope we can make a couple of extra signings before the season starts to make sure we've got everything properly covered.
