You are obviously unfamiliar with David Mead. He has never in the past during his decade in the NRL behaved the way you are predicting he will at Catalans.

David Mead will become an inspiration to young English fullbacks and will compete with Wigan's Morgan Escare and St Helens' Benjamin Barba for a place in the Super League Dream Team for 2018.

So I ask you for the umpteenth time - if he's still so good why is he coming to SL let alone one of its struggling teams?

There is no logic at the moment for any player still capable of getting a first team NRL slot doing such a thing.

The NRL is player rich but not so player rich they would let a player like Mead go unless there was a problem - sorry John but that how it worked.

He may still be a decent player but he won't be the player you seem to be expecting. Another Kevin Locke imho.

Finally this pace you're on about - I guarantee you he wouldn't get anywhere near Tom Johnstone or Mason Caton Brown in a foot race plus a few others dotted around SL.

You may well ask why does any talented NRL player come to Super League?

David Mead wants to play full back. But there have been no openings in such a slot for him in the NRL. So when he was made a generous offer by Catalans, he gratefully accepted.

The Gold Coast Titans, where David Mead played for almost a decade, has give Super League talents like Albert Kelly and Gregory Bird.

Watch here and you will see why the Catalans have acquired a top quality full back:

John you miss the point, must be my accent that's confusing you.

You're talking in the past tense - reputation in other words. I don't deny his past acheivments why would I.

I don't deny that Tony Myler was the most skilled player I've seen imo. However that was then this is now.

As you pointed out Wakefield have 4 sorry 2 top notch imports but I'm not pretending any of them are currently NRL standard. The only one that was is Pauli Pauli but that's a WAS.

Also he won't be surrounded by the same quality of players at Catalan or any SL club. Some of the tries you see in the NRL simply don't happen here because we lack the players with the ability. Many an Aussie in SL has come unstuck with that one. Although it sounds perverse SL is actually to slow for players like Mead to exploit he simply won't get the service.

I don't know who you're trying to convince me or you. One way or another the player you are getting is not the player on that footage - mark my words.

but will it be the home or away form this coming season that lets them down once again?

Jeez if he had one leg he'd be better than that.

No seriously your probably right.

Truth is the Aussies we get in SL these days just fill the gaps.

Some might look at this as being harsh but I think it's fair. When are the Rugby League going to stop persisting with this fantasy expansion. If it hasn't worked by now, it never will! I'm all for reaching out to a wider audience with our game but not at the expense of historical clubs in the homelands.

Hull kr and Leigh love to sign a French player, but their supporters seem to hate the French clubs. It’s a bit like every UKIP leader seems to have a foreign wife or girlfriend, while there supporters look unfavourably upon such people.

I don't hate the French clubs at all. In fact there aren't many rovers supporters I know who do. I firmly believe they are good for our game.
