The Watcher is very pleased that England have finally reached their first World Cup final under the leadership of Super League, though it has taken 21 long years. In the 1995 final we lost 16-8, it will be interesting to see if that gap has been narrowed. The Watcher however believes that England is very very lucky to be there at all. The Watcher would like to ask the question again, has Super League done our great game of Rugby League any good whatsoever. The Watcher thinks not.

The issue is the NRL bandwagon is getting further and further ahead due to income. We need a BoD that starts to reduce that gap so we can expand and invest in tomorrows playing pool

If SL had followed the same path as the NRL (mergers,feeder clubs) we wouldn't be having this conversation. There is no stability,or structual pathways in the English game anymore. The SL elite created that! Now its all gone stale they require more finance from the lower tiers (or the pot) to feed their addiction.

The beauty is a much improved "product" at the top level of the domestic game.

The beast is everything, but everything, else. Maurice Frankenstein's monster! Bongser bets that MF made a couple o' bob out of it though so why should he care?

England will not catch up with Oz (next week's (ahem!) victory aside) in our lifetimes. But, WTF, personally'd rather see regrowth in the founding heartlands and lots of youngsters therefrom again starting to dream of pulling on their hometown team's shirt (without it coming from the market that is). Can we achieve that? No, probably not.

Australia by 20. Their game is light years away from ours. We need the game to grow world wide to have any chance of attracting the kind of investment that is needed from sponsors and tv rights.

To beat the Aussies we need to improve the handling the error rate for incomplete sets in the last 2 matches has been shocking, this will be a different game however all due respect to pacific teams who play with passion and aggression Australia will play with speed we need to get in there faces and complete our sets.
