At last aI think we can say with almost certainty that our problems at half back are over. At last we have a player in Mortimer who can direct our attack, complimented by an astute tactical kicking game which we haven't had all season. The only drawback is poorer goalkicking percentages, but I think we all prefer the possibility of more tries than less goals!!

I do worry that him and Drinkwater may be a little to similar, and is like having 2 7s. But we definitely seem more potent in attack, if the defence is anything like it can be we should be more than ok

Think we'll have more of an idea after next Saturday

I don't think the Fev half back pairing are anything to write home about.

Although i welcome the win yesterday,I thought we looked a bit too nervous too often. We are at home next week, and if we can shrug that off and play with a bit of fluency like we did against Salford, I can't see a problem, and 4 points will put us in good stead against Cats,which i think we will win (6 points), and then a week off before we put Widnes to bed with 8 points in the bag. The run run in will be Wire,Fax and London to get 2 more points to hopefully secure our SL status. Sounds good dunt it.

I would like to add that commentator Barrie Mc one blonk stated he would like to see more from Morty who thought wasn't doing enough.......who in the end got MOM. Last year the same commy said Riddy should get more involved late on in the game against KR, and in the end got MOM........Barrie Mc one blonk knows F*** all.

I'm not sure if he actually disappears! I think he tends to sit back and reads the game.To be fair they've not had many match minutes together and as a pairing can only get better.

Both have excellent rugby brains,Mortimer more clinical with the kicking game.He tends for me at the minute to be playing a little Hooker come Stand-off role,not a totally dedicated Stand-off,which Drinky is coming to terms with.

Each game they play together just shows improvement to me. I dont think they have totally gelled yet and there's more to come.But I wouldn't be without either at present.

It's a real shame for Ben Reynolds who after a shaky spell came back stronger & better for it !

While Mortimer who must command decent $$$ & Drinky play well, Ben will be resigned to understudy, time will tell if that is enough for Ben or if he will seek to be 1st choice 6 elsewhere !

I don't think Reynolds is quite good enough to be a first choice SL 6 yet. But he's a lot better now than he was at the start of the season. If he continues to progress, then he'll be first choice next season, either ahead of Drinkwater (is he contracted for next year?) or with Mortimer moving to 9.

I've just heard that Ridyard will be out for the rest of the season as he had to have a operation on his shoulder.Shame he did a great job for us since he has been on loan it was a cheap late shot by Farrell against Wigan and then at Hull by Ellis that did for him both going unpunished.Hope he can get something sorted out soon hes a good player and a good bloke too.Best of luck in the qualifiers I am sure you will be OK

Mortimer is looking a real class act isn't he ? NRL Grand finalist and still only 28 year old.

Already he looks to have developed a great understanding with Josh Drinkwater at half back.

It is equally reassuring that we also have Ben Reynolds pushing hard for a spot in the halves.
