It once again brings up the question should England select players who qualify through residency, such as Joel Moon and Adam Cuthbertson. Every other nation and every other sport uses the residency rule to select the best available team, except England rugby league. I'm sure Wayne Bennett will want to pick the best players that he can, but the dark ages RFL may take that out of his hands.

Its not he RFL its our attitude towards it as fans I think that stops the coach picking them. We have had 2 in recent (ish) years and there was uproar. Apart from football where the talent pool is massive to select from, every other sport do it and not one fan moans about it, yet Rugby League fans frown upon it and don't want the antipodeans in our national side. I'm somewhere in the middle as to whether we should select on residency. Can't stand union but I happily support the england cricket team where south africans and irishmen have captained us. I used to happily accept Greg Rusedzki as a british tennis player, but put maurie fa'asavalu in a GB shirt all hell breaks loose

On that logic you could say Rugby League in Australia is so poor they had to select a Fijian on the wing and a Kiwi at prop.

Rugby League in New Zealand is so poor they have to select Aussies in various positions.

Rugby Union in England is so poor they have to select Kiwis in various positions.

You could go on and on with this.

It is only England rugby league that discriminates against people depending on their place of birth and does not follow the international eligibility rules.
