Giants have signed 18 year old Olly Russell from Wigan academy on a 2 year deal. He's a stand off. Anyone heard of him?

According to Wigan website his amateur club was Oldham St Annes,is he related to Richard Russell ex Wigan hooker possibly his son and if so he would be the Grandson of ex Fartown player of the 60's Jimmy Russell

Surprised about this as our U19s have a good half back pairing, and we have decent back up. Hope this doesn't mean we are losing Izaac or josh. Unless izaac is moving up to 1st team! Could mean we are losing brierley /brough next year to Toronto as the rumours.

Olly is Richards son and was an England u16 international but Wigan have a plethora of half backs, josh is a first year so needs rest while Isaac has been banned 4 times in last two years so having three halfbacks in squad is a good thing

Jools right re Brierley, with Broughy coming to the end of his career, the halfback pairing is now a major priority, and l mean NOW, is this lad the answer, Gaskell looks to be settleing on at 7, but what about Ellis next year? Farrell seems to get good reps, is he ready, good enough? l have only seen the U19 once so l don,t know whats in the pipeline, there,s certainly a bit of competition, but Broughy,s boots are big one,s to fill.

Seen quite a bit of izaac, although still raw he can kick, tackle and lead a team around the park. Similar style of play to brough, slightly bigger/stronger not as fast as brough in his early days but can still motor a bit. Put it this way I'd say he is a better all round halfback than Connor was when he was playing halfback in the U19s

I would give Izaac a go in the first team. Only seen him a couple of times and I think he is going to be a good prospect. And playing with more experienced players his game could come on in leaps and bounds.

Oliver scored in his game against Gateshead today. Looks a very good skilful half back.
