Spirit of Wakefield Trinity : Wed Apr 19, 2017 4:59 pm
Just as a little lighthearted fun after so much "heavy" content lately, which player would you say over the last twenty or so years best represents the "spirit" of Wakefield Trinity. By that I mean the best ambassador for the club by his loyalty, enthusiasm, Influence on others etc.
Just for the record I would say Jason Demetriou followed by Sam Obst.

Agree with JD and Sam Obst. I will add another name in Johnny Thompson who is still involved at the club. What about Neil Fox as well.

He may not have been our best player but, Korkidas certainly fits the bill.

Re: Spirit of Wakefield Trinity : Wed Apr 19, 2017 6:15 pm
In recent times I'd say Danny Kirmond - he's put his hand up to play even though he's been busted up, he's stuck with the club through plenty of down times too. In the current squad I'd also say big Dave Fifita, the man puts his all on the pitch for us every week, then is always one of the last to leave the pitch having spent time with the fans.

I do reckon that there's something a bit magic about this club for players, perhaps for some it's because it was the club who put trust in them and offered them another chance when nobody else would

If you're gonna say Johnny Thompson then you might as well include that old bloke who does all the organising and the like for the supporters events. Even TRB could be considered.

JD as good a call as any.

Think you mean Ray Wood. Could also include Mrs B.

Pretty hard to single one player out, agree with most mentioned, especially JD. Also David Solomona was a genuine world class player in his prime, we were so lucky to have him, he came with no big player attitude, gave his all, and helped a lot off the field too in trying to raise the profile of the club. No player has given me more pleasure than him since I started watching in the mid 80's. Also Nigel Bell never left the field having not given his absolute all, not the most gifted, or the biggest, but one of the biggest hearts i'd say.

Agree that all those mentioned could qualify particularly Fifita of the current bunch. He seems to be enjoying it here at the moment and always has time for the kids at the end of the game.

Fifita was the last on the field again on Monday, spending time with the younger fans.

The lad has the makings of a trinity legend, he can score tries for fun, always gives his all, solid in defence and attack, big fan favourite, seems to do lots with the community dept, and always spends time with fans after the game
