"...the biggest boor, the most opinionated pompous bigot that frequents these
boards and he is NOT to be taken at all seriously. "

Saints v Cas : Mon Apr 17, 2017 5:23 pm
This could e the match which kick-starts our season.

So someone who was there, tell me about it!

You would not believe it was the same team and players from two weeks ago.

5 drives and a kick RL has been banished in favour of traditional saints flair.

We saw players offloading in the tackle, the ball going from one wing to the other and back again, forwards running second man out and a willingness to take risks.

It was noticeable that at half time as fans we all had smiles on our faces, and the crowd was enthused and chanting, two weeks ago it was like a morgue with everyone bored stiff.

The only downside was a number of soft errors, mainly lost balls in the tackle. Most of which were at least close to the opposition line.

We played some decent rugby today and the was entertaining game whicn has been a while. We had a off load game today which is something new for us.

We still wasn't great and still need to improve but certainly something to build on from the easter period. I think Matty smith needs to up his game. Some of his passes and kicks today was poor and have been since his first game in saints shirt.

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.
Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

Bit of a nail biter towards the end, at 20-6 Saints deserved that lead but we knew Cas would hit back in the 2nd half courtesy of good work from Roberts.

For the saints performance it was getting near to the "old saints" style throwing the ball about with a couple of errors thrown in, we got stuck into Cas and for parts of the game they did't like it and conceded a couple of penalties. Regan Grace only had a couple of runs but they created havoc in the Cas defence, Percival was similar and was allowed to run laterally to create space.

As for Wikin, Lee and Peyroux who we have been critical of, they had decent games, Matty Smith was still a bit hit and miss but kept probing alongside Fages who had another good game. Douglas was probably pick of the pack for workrate but generally the forwards worked there socks off.
Fleming did a solid enough job and took his try well and deserves to keep his shirt for next week. Special mention to Zeb Taia what a fantastic player he is, did an enormous amount of work and contributed a lot to our go forward.

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Would you say that Zeb Taia was the one bit of business that has gone right for Saints in the Cunningham era. A transfer that was forced by a player wanting to move to the NRL, but seems to have been the best outcome for Saints.

Absolutely, you can bet he wasn't, on the club radar when OZ came knocking for big Joe. He,s a great athlete with a work ethic way beyond his years, he is slowing turning things around for the club, Lol and Lon must be chuffed to work with him.
