It's early days for Twelves and Eights. Time will tell whether the best marketing policy is to sell 11 match season tickets or 14/15 match season tickets.

Personally, I'd see it as a bit of a bind to buy a season ticket twice a year but - hey - other punters may differ. Only the sales figures will tell us. :READING:

Unfortunately however hard we try Sheffield will never get massive crowds until/if we get into the superleague and even if we do wewould probably only average 3,000 at best there are three reasons for this

Heritage - If Sheffield was in West Yorkshire we would probably get crowds of 5-10 k however Sheffield is a football city with 2 well attended clubs, the oldest club and the oldest football ground. Growing up as a child you are either a blade or an owl. Rugby League has never been popular in Sheffield if we could not build and attract a crowd following our wembley win we never will . Football owns this city

Rugby League - We are all fans on this forum and understand the rules most of the time !! for a newbie it must be difficult to follow in the flesh if you are used to watching rugby league on Sky

Minority Sports - Sheffield Ice Hockey is well attended and other rival sports Speedway, Stockcars, Greyhound Racing. Teams like Warrington Widnes Castleford St Helens are well attended but RL is the only sport in their town

Jeez duggs - you set your sights pretty low.

Soccer owns everywhere. St Helens don't seem to do so bad, despite being close to Liverpool.

When I first started watching Rugby League, I was just happy to watch it as a spectacle. I was prepared to invest a bit of time learning the laws of the game. The trouble with folk today is they want to "plug and play". New products don't even come with manuals now. They're online in the unlikely event that you want them.

Minority Sports - Sheffield Ice Hockey is well attended and other rival sports Speedway, Stockcars, Greyhound Racing. Teams like Warrington Widnes Castleford St Helens are well attended but RL is the only sport in their town

Not sure what your point is here, duggs. We're a minority sport too. Why do we get less fans than ice hockey ? And are you telling me that no-one in Warrington, Widnes, Castleford or St Helens travels to sporting events outside their town ? Afraid that's nonsense. Folk travel big distances to sporting events these days.

Would an average of 3,000 be so bad? It's probably more than Salford get now.

People like to bang on about how Sheffield have no fans but we're 6th for average attendances in the championship this season, and that's effectively playing away from home. When we were in Super League, there were teams with lower average crowds than us. It probably just looked worse in a huge bowl than a compact crumbling dump like Belle Vue.

No reserves, but resilience, persistence and determination are omnipotent.

It's not applicable to our next 2 games but following on from Scottish and southern based soccer clubs it seems a rugby league club is now trying PAY WHAT YOU WANT/CAN SEASON TICKETS

People who work shifts don't enjoy purchasing season tickets, especially when the kick off times/days are changed at late notice.

Some sports clubs do the 'Pay what you think the game was worth' tactic.

This could be incorporated with extra press coverage in the form of a survey, which again raises the profile of the club - should we be returning to Sheffield for 2016 - Story

Damian Irvine, who was at Cronulla Sharks,is now involved on the commercial side at Wycombe Wanderers soccer club, where I believe the attendances are soaring.

I have checked with things at Notts County where he was working earlier, and discovered he managed to gain an award in 2014.

It was linked with season ticket sales - named The Bench - and it was a scheme where purchasers of season tickets were made to feel more involved with the club.

Would a similar scheme work if aimed at the youngsters/familes supporters for the future?

People like to be made to feel wanted and valued - so I'm told. :)

Would it not be possible to play a double header with one of the football clubs. This is just a suggestion as I dont know the logistics involved with the idea. But surely someone could approach the idea. After all anything must be worth a try

Pitch markings, posts, soccer clubs not wanting us on their pitch, dressing rooms, financial arrangements - just some of the problems to overcome. :(
