was watching an nfl doco. on one of their teams and they used the term bomb to describe those long high passes from quaterback to running back and i think gibson took that idea, realized you cant throw the ball forward in RL and adapted it to a "bomb" kick we have

Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS

If they could find the funds, the interest and the players and ground, a South Island could stoke up more interest in NZ.
New Zealand: The National Average for Maori/Pacifica population is 22%.
Auckland Region has a 25% M/P population....22% in the city Wellington Region has a 21% M/P population... 13% in the city. Canterbury Region has 11% both in and around the City http://apps.nowwhere.com.au/StatsNZ/Maps/default.aspx
Statistically, Maori/Pacifica represents 43% of the region to the direct south of Mount Smart Stadium, Manukau City. In the smaller areas immediately surrounding the stadium itself, this drops to about 40%. The reason the Warriors are situated where they are, is to put it bluntly, because that's where their social and racial demographic are based...
Around Eden Park....this M/P percentage drops to 14%.....
Wellington RL has 8 Premier sides....7 of which come from The Hutt Valley or Porirua....30% M/P Population......
I can't prove it, but in my opinion, some of the stats above are why Owen Glenn was quoted as saying he wanted a second Auckland NRL side which he would fund to "set up"..... there are about 150,000 M/P in Manakau, another 90,000 in Auckland...with another 60,000 to the East within 20 kms.....and another 20,000 less than 10kms north...about 330,000 within a 20km radius each way...
In the Entire Wellington Region there are only 95,000....in Canterbury less than 60,000..... there's over double that within a 20 minute drive of Mount Smart.
I would have 2nd NRL team based in Wellington, playing 6 there and 6 in Chrischurch...neither region or city has the M/P population to attract 15k+ to 12 games, but a 1/2 season ticket costing $120 would see both grounds/centres shift 10,000 ticketed memberships each easily......20,000 members straight up.....get a winning team in there and I reckon they'd be up to 30,000 within 5 years.
When the Kiwis play, TV figures go between 250k-300k....when the Warriors play, it's 100k to 150k......there is an audience on the Box for non - Auckland RL......
Go the SOUTHERN ORCAS!

I don't like the idea of going half and half to be honest. The club would lack identity.
Where do you get 12 games from as well? If the NRL expands in 2015 it would be 18 teams. That would mean 17 home games.

Sports fans here in NZ are fickle creatures......but wellingtonians and cantabrians would unite happily against the JAFA's (just another f**king Auckander)....I doubt a stand alone team in Wellington or Christchurch would work. The NZ V England game in the 2010 4 Nations was a hard sell......trying to get even half that crowd for 12 games would prove near impossible....but 6 "EVENT" games for $120........easy peasy lemon sqeezy IMO.

They don't play 15 H/A with a league of 16......I doubt the number of games in a season will go up much more.....what with SoO and Anzac tests and the top 8 play-offs, the season is about as long as it can get without damaging the product.

I just assumed they did! How does that work? Who plays who?

26 Regular season rounds 12 home, 12 away, 2 byes rotates between teams..........Warriors this year will miss trips to Newcastle, Bankstown and the Bunnies.... Teams that won't come to NZ this year are the Dragons, the eels and the tigers.....
Living in Wellington, I try to get to all the home matches, but sometimes, it's ony a few bucks more to miss the home game and fly to Sydney to catch them away......but it's still a bloody expensive "hobby".
