A genuine line break second row and a 6 with lightening pace would be good.
I would personally also like a an experienced 8 who can come on and settle things down when we come up against the much bigger super league packs ( ala Mick Weyman)

Am I right in thinking you are full on the quota?

If so, going to make your recruitment much tougher.

If you get a 6, what would you do with Abdul?

Based on what you have seen so far, what positions would you look to recruit for the 8's?

It's a tricky one, and I think Biltonrobin makes a good point about going for experience or giving younger players a chance.

Heffernan and Minns are ripping it up at centre in the championship, while Blair and Greenwood have been relatively subdued in the second row. The latter pair might be better able to stand up to the challenges of the 8s though.

Prop would be my first priority. after that, I think it is more about getting somebody who can offer something special - whether in terms of quality or leadership - more than their position.

Injuries might change things too, as the season progresses.

We have 2 unused quota spots at the moment, along with an estimated 400k cap to play with.

If Rugby League Rocks, then Hull KR is its Soul.

Re: Genuine question : Sun Mar 12, 2017 9:07 pm
We will need 2 props, a second row and a more creative 6 with a better kicking game. Abdull coming along nicely, but maybe a bit too anonymous for a full intensity game against the SL teams.

We have at least 2 quota spots and half a million pounds of spare cap available as far as I know, but I am sure I will be corrected here if I'm wrong. Moss has an English passport.

Quinlan, Clark, Heffernan, Butler-Fleming, Blair. I only count five. Moss got a dispensation from the Bradford situation (eventually).

So two more spots available, unless I've forgotten somebody.

While we might have £400k-500k free on the cap, we should remember that the cap is live and can't be 'saved'. Better to think of it as about £50k per month spare. and even then there's no guarantee we'll have the cash to use it.

Also, UK of GB and NI passport, PR. ;)

His passport is irrelevant as he is non-fed trained. However his dispensation following the Bulls liquidation is very important. His form thus far is disappointing, but it would be worse if he was occupying a quota spot.

I would hope that Abdul would face any challange for his spot by upping his game and give Tim a selection headache.
In the past he has become "comfortable" with his own game and lost his form, hence why his out on loan.

It could be just the challenge he needs to ensure his future with Hull or whoever.
At the moment he's doing a good job, but I cannot see Addy and Abdul having a future in the same team.

I was told by someone at rovers in your camp this season is a joke super league is increasing to 14 teams next year and you have already been offered a place in the comp regardless of where you finish this season or the middle 8s joke I suppose the question is who else will come up and will they relegate anyone from super league

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Frederick Douglas

I can't quite work out what it is but I see something in Moss. It wouldn't be the first time I've been spectacularly wrong (that kid whose name I now forget who was coming through at centre with Salter immediately springs to mind) but he has that one old adage of the thing you can't coach. Pace.

He looks hungry to me, perhaps this is not directed in the correct ways so far, but he looks to me as if he wants it, and I know desire in a persons eyes...

I'm just not getting Heffernan at the moment, he has a lot of enthusiasm, but for me it's not always directed in the best areas, he's great at leading a kick chase line but has given away at least three penalties for tackling in the air.

At the moment he's a project with prospects who requires serious coaching. He's certainly not "ripping it up".

Edit; Spelling.
