Rhinos Beat KR In Middle Eights Rehearsal Two of the teams that will end the season in the middle eights competition, kicked off the final round of the regular season as Hull KR welcomed the Leeds Rhinos. The prize on offer was four home games in the middle eights, and both sides were desperate to finish as high up the table as they could. The Rhinos had four wins in their last five outings but KR had only managed one in their last five. The Rhinos were the bookies favourites, and after spending much of the season propping up the rest of the table, some end of season form could see them finish ninth. The Rhinos were without McGuire, Delaney and Moon while KR were missing Thornley and Donaldson, amongst others. They don't 'hang about' do they, the NEWS HOUND....like any Rovers fan wouldn't know the final score !!

Well, about half the ground emptied when Hall scored so perhaps there is a market for this report!

Guilty as charged there, Stan.

Bolted for the exit after we saw the Hall try making it 22-16 with 2 minutes left and a kick almost in front of the sticks to come and less than 90 secs later, the wife and I are in the car Pickering bound for our 75 minute drive home. Switch on the ignition, on comes Radio Humberside and it's 24-20 and Dixon is being berated for showboating to the Sky cameras. Richard Stead saying - "Surely the draw is not on for Rovers is it Pinko?" Sadly not to be, but we were in an optimistic mood on the drive back home in a perverse kind of way.

Strange old game, great atmosphere. Proud to be a Rugby League fan and lifelong Robin.

Alas, my lifelong credentials don't stand up to scrutiny, being an immigrant to this screwed up city in my early 20's. I didn't discover HKR for another 10 years after my arrival.
