What immortal hand or eye,
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

Whilst this is an incredible week and will be an incredible day for all Rovers fans in Wembley on Saturday, there will be around 1,500 people in there for whom this game will represent even more. For those who have stuck by the club during the times of Dave Harrison not having 17 players with a couple of weeks to the first game of the league, or being told that Super League simply wouldn't have both Hull and Rovers and our only option would be to merge or die, winning this game would be just what that support has deserved. It feels like the perfect way to slam the door shut on those days.

It's been a long road from the late 90's. I remember the despair I felt when Featherstone put 50+ on us in the play offs at Craven Park in 1998 and thought we'd always be consigned to disappointment. Thankfully, Hudge came along in 2003 and the road became lit. I will be more pleased for Neil than anyone on Saturday.

I am still convinced we through that game probably because we couldn't afford to go up after all we beat them home and away in the league I think

Wakey went up that year, beating us the week before the Fev debacle. We'd beat Wakey 3 times that year, twice away and we should have gone on to win the Grand Final. There has always been unsubstantiated rumour that many of the players stood to lose their jobs if we went up and had to go full time. Looking back, I'm sure there was plenty of truth in it.

Yeah I remember didn't realise it was the same season we beat wakey 3 times like you say players would lost there jobs and as a side point everyone raving about Leigh's try at the weekend from the kick on the first tackle we used to do that every week in the 90s fletcher kicking for Stan from the scrum

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Looking forward to my 2nd Wembley final involving Rovers, just hoping for different winners! Back in 1979 I was a 13 year old smitten with the game of Rugby league, and little did I know that my old fella was about to make one of the most important purchases of his life. He worked not far from the RL headquarters in Chapeltown, which was then a potentially dangerous place to visit. One afternoon that Autumn he headed down to Chapeltown to buy Challenge Cup final tickets, he probably didn't realise at the time the magnitude of what he'd just done. That final ranks up there with any sporting event I've ever been to, including all the finals I've attended as a Leeds fan. As you get older the excitement is still there, but as a 13 year old kid on my first visit to Wembley, the sheer passion and scale of an all Hull final took my breath away. Have a safe journey down and enjoy the day. It will be great for all the young 'uns who, like I was, are going for the first time.

Lovely post mate.

Dreading it, not sure how I'll take the inevitable disappointment, and I know the new Ms. Terrorista will be all upbeat and chipper, so it's likely I'll have to kill her.

Really looking all the old tales, my Dad just missed out on playing international RU, but took me to Rovers when I was a nipper from I think about 83.

We went on a coach trip to the 85 game and I felt sorry for them when they lost, I think he took me because he wanted me to go to Wembley and it might not happen for a Hull club again.

Next year, the whole family went down for the weekend, I couldn't understand why the terrible disaster wasn't headline news everywhere.

I can't even say his name in case it jinxes us.

Edit, loving, not looking.

Still dreading though.

Get stuck into them Rovers, have a great day out and an even better night out when you get back to Hull. :DRUNK:

Enjoy the whole Wembley experience regardless of whatever the result may be. Good luck from Castleford.
