Thomas minns : Fri Jul 03, 2015 4:59 pm
Hull kr have signed 20 yr old leeds rhinos centre thomas minns on a 3 year deal from 2016,chris chester said they had been monitoing him while he is currently on loan at featherstone and are very impressed. He comes highly recommended from everybody at leeds and chester said "hes a good solid defender, but a special talent with ball in hand,he was previously on loan at london and scored 7 tries in 27 games and can also play full back" Sounds just the ticket to me.

Can't see the point in this signing TBH only going to add depth to the squad (Chesters words) why not give our own players like hallett a chance? He looked a player at the end of last season and hasn't been given a chance this year been scoring for fun at Newcastle. Is this kid guna be in front of salter aswell? I hope a quality centre is to come in to replace Goulding

I think the point of this signing is that Welham & Salter have earned the right to be first choice centres but nevertheless cover is needed. Hallett has played 2 games both on the wing and none this season so it would be a huge gamble to go into 2016 with just him as back up to Welham & Salter.

Wasn't playing welham and salter a gamble when they first play there never guna get a chance unless play them and I think salter is a good back up but if Goulding hadnt retired would he be playing as much as he has and when campo comes back I think Blair will be starting centre with welham so salter would still be back up

Why will Blair be playing centre when campese comes back he's played second row all season before campeses injury and also Chester said we were going to sign some outside backs on the coming weeks

Don't get me wrong, I like Campese a lot, he is a superb player but we are currently playing very well and Kelly & Blair are becoming a cracking partnership at HB. What happens if we win the cup and get in the 8's and do well, will we revert to Campo automatically. Chester will have a (nice) headache with that one. Perhaps he can go to an old fashioned loose man position and leave Blair where he is (it was the plan for 2015 anyway). This would leave a good centre and a hooker (Lunt hopefully) as a the needs for 2016.

I presume JP had a lot to do with this signing. Depth to the squad next year possibly but in future years who knows. JP must have bigged him up for us to sign him. That is part of his new role. I guess CC and JP can see the point. That's good enough for me. I'm sure JP will have a chuckle to himself when his first bit of business is seen in such a poor light.

Could the reason rovers are now playing well be due to the fact six forwards have returned from injury since Campese was injured?

Yes that will have a lot to do with it, but they still have formed a very good partnership which will be hard to alter if we do well over the remainder of the season.

A good run of home games won't have hurt either
