Early kick off is perfect, back home, and straight to Humber Street.

Going off if buts and maybe's but could you imagine having a challenge cup final chucked in amongst fighting for our survival in super league? I think we need to reach top 8 because if we don't and we do beat warrington it's going to make the final a whole lot harder

It'd definitely be better to make the 8 than not, but the price of that would be losing the semi, the way I read Dave K's hypothetical.

It could be interpreted as you could guarantee one and still have a shot at the other. I'd still go for winning the semi and taking our chances in the league though. There are two chances to avoid relegation and only one to win the cup.

Variation on the theme - would you, hypothetically, take a Challenge Cup win, if the price were relegation?

It's not an easy choice, but I would. You can always get promoted again, whereas a cup win is forever. And under the current system, it wouldn't necessarily completely destroy the the club's infrastructure.
On the other hand, it'd do a fair bit of damage, and while promotion is possible, it's not like 1 up, 1 down, so I think a lot might disagree with me.

In the real world, it'll most likely be that neither happens - I'm just curious as to how people weigh it.

relegation would be a disaster for either Hull club. Firstly, you immediately lose £600k off your salary cap meaning you have to lose your best players to balance the books, you get a massive chunk less of sky money to add to (likely) greatly reduced crowds and then the final nail in the coffin would be that your nearest and dearest (enemy) would get the pick of the junior talent in the area.

It would be tough to juggle a wembley final and playing in the middle 8's IMO for either Hull club, neither of whom are in particularly great form

I agree with most of what you said except the part about not being in good form, beating Widnes then Wire then Cats and last night Salford would qualify most teams to be 'in good form' I can understand FCs form when put into context as you have had a double header with Leeds, if you're talking about quality of play, Rovers defensive frailties are all too aparent, but their backs are outstanding, but FC is the opposite, with good defence and poor attack, ask any Rovers fan which way round they prefer and you will find a pretty comprehensive answer, Rovers have been prone to losing daft games ala Wakey but can beat anyone as only the Rhino's and Cas have beaten us twice, our style of play will always give you a fighting chance against ANYONE, but FC's inabillity to score against the better teams finds them out, that's why Rovers get spanked one week and pull off a good win the next, but for two seasons now FC keep ruing narrow losses.

Your home form is great, you can beat anyone, you need to improve your away form in SL, big test next two games.

Going to be very tough, had big doubts about last night but kept going and managed to rest a few without losing the game.

You've won 4 home games against an out of sorts warrington, an injury hit les cats (who can't win outside of France at the best of times), widnes, who's only scalp on the road has been wakey and 11th placed salford who you scraped past last night. If you want to take that as some kind of "form" then that's up to you but they're all games I'd expect to win fairly comfortably which rovers haven't, warrington apart. All 4 of those teams are in danger of being in the bottom 4. The attacking genius of kelly will always have potential to drag you out of a hole but it doesn't indicate much form to me. I guess we'll see how you go in the next 4 games
