The possibility of this has been mentioned on different forums. I don't think it'll happen but the implications are clear regarding league position for current League 1 clubs come the end of the regular season.

I don't really see how this could happen. Derek Beaumont is going but I don't see him leaving them with a financial black hole.

I suppose that if they can't play at Leigh Sports Village they might not satisfy the Championship ground requirements; that could lead to them being demoted.

What's making people think they might be in League One, Rob?

Just speculation really DM, mostly from Leigh fans suggesting liquidation's a possibility. Personally I don't think it'll come to that as Beaumont seems to have left contingency in place. I also don't think the ground will be an issue. This is really just something I think we need to keep half an eye on.

I read that Derek Beaumont is going to stay on as a sponsor next season so I wouldn't imagine he would want the club to have to do battle in our league. I'd expect them to be a side likely to finish between 5th and 8th in the Championship next season.

It's always sad for the fans when something like this happens. But it just goes to show how difficult it is to break through into the big league and stay there.
