The penalty count was about 9 to 1 in the first half. With that in mind we probably did well to be as close as we were at half-time.
With confidence so low we seemed to rightly play a different style today. Spirits really seemed to lift when we scored at the beginning of the second half.
At 26-14 we seemed to be well in charge. Our forwards were punching holes and Keighley looked on the back foot. I thought Ross Osborne was excellent and his attitude first class although his liking for an offload worried me at times near the end when it needed to be up-the-jumper.
Lewis Bienek looks a fair player too. Jordie Hedges was great at scrum half and his goal kicking was superb. Charlie Martin made a difference when he came on in the second half. I liked the Russ Spiers side-step for the try of Keiran Cross.
I'm really pleased for the players as they put in a good shift, worked hard, and deserved the win. There's still plenty to work on with the 'decision-making' but it's a good step in the right direction.
For the Hull fans: Jack Sanderson looked good under the high ball and runs the ball out of defence well. Jordan Lane was solid in defence and added something to our team. Lewis Bienek played for most of the first half and made an impression when running the ball in. Ross Osborne had his best game for the Dons. Definitely no complaints at all from me about the effort and commitment shown by the Hull lads.
I also thought the fans got behind the team as well today.
