Re: New season - questions for in the dug out : Tue Jan 09, 2018 12:25 pm
I fear the reasons for the negativity are clear.Every season we are promised a competitive side, with Carl issuing the same promises from his dug out forum ,about who we are looking to sign and how we have a larger budget than previous years................. only for reality to kick in when we unveil he has been on the rugby equivalent of super market sweep with mediocre signings and loan players who would struggle get game time anywhere else.
It says a lot about the clubs signings and ambition when a retired player in his mid thirties, fetched in as assistant coach has to pull his boots on to give the team some backbone.
And in doing so looks a class apart from most of the side.
We then hear the guff about how successful our challenge 1000 has been ,and how it was never a realistic target to sell 1000 season tickets.
We ended up selling 366 adult tickets and given away 241 to children, to hear Carl we should get the bunting out and hold an open top bus parade through the town.
I think Bentley v Toll Bar produced a larger crowd at Scawthorpes, Woody field.
And finally the point about finance ...................
I commend the Rovers for the Club Doncaster concept ,...... its a great idea in principle , but surely if they want it to be successful then money must be made available to push for promotion given the wealth and philanthropy of the owners.
I'm sure if we made the CEO accountable for his decisions .....................................you know like the job of a proper CEO ,then hopefully things may alter for the better , but while ever we have the current incumbent masquerading as one, giving his embarrassing dug-out drivel once a week then will continue to play championship one with the same sponsors and no new money coming into the club.
I cant wait for the Dale Winton of rugby league to announce our next major signing.
