Re: New season - questions for in the dug out : Tue Jan 09, 2018 12:25 pm
I fear the reasons for the negativity are clear.

Every season we are promised a competitive side, with Carl issuing the same promises from his dug out forum ,about who we are looking to sign and how we have a larger budget than previous years................. only for reality to kick in when we unveil he has been on the rugby equivalent of super market sweep with mediocre signings and loan players who would struggle get game time anywhere else.

It says a lot about the clubs signings and ambition when a retired player in his mid thirties, fetched in as assistant coach has to pull his boots on to give the team some backbone.
And in doing so looks a class apart from most of the side.

We then hear the guff about how successful our challenge 1000 has been ,and how it was never a realistic target to sell 1000 season tickets.

We ended up selling 366 adult tickets and given away 241 to children, to hear Carl we should get the bunting out and hold an open top bus parade through the town.
I think Bentley v Toll Bar produced a larger crowd at Scawthorpes, Woody field.

And finally the point about finance ...................

I commend the Rovers for the Club Doncaster concept ,...... its a great idea in principle , but surely if they want it to be successful then money must be made available to push for promotion given the wealth and philanthropy of the owners.

I'm sure if we made the CEO accountable for his decisions .....................................you know like the job of a proper CEO ,then hopefully things may alter for the better , but while ever we have the current incumbent masquerading as one, giving his embarrassing dug-out drivel once a week then will continue to play championship one with the same sponsors and no new money coming into the club.
I cant wait for the Dale Winton of rugby league to announce our next major signing.

He has also given £2m to his old university to provide a new music department.I know you will probably say he puts £1000's in every season mainly to the Rovers but that's just to keep heads above water.I bet he's seen a handful of Rovers games if that and probably not a single Dons game.So here's a man at the head of Club Doncaster who shows no passion or interest in the Rovers or Dons to take either club on to better things. It would be very interesting to see who would step in if the chance arose but I'm sure whoever may come in wouldn't be satisfied with two clubs ticking over from day to day with just survival in mind.

 Same sort of posting that would not last two minutes on the Rovers Viking site. Been spouted before, tee shirt video etc.

The fact is no Terry Bramhall or now the late Dick Watsons son Anthony, no Club Doncaster, no Rovers no Dons. You will never know how much that bloke you so easily castigate has poured into the Rovers and then went onto buy the Dons when Carl Hall had run out of options and the money for the running of a semi professional RL team in this Town had yet one again run out.

You guys always have to see something sinister, don't you? I buy my season ticket, I pay into the Dons For Life every month and I'm prepared to help the club out with my time if I feel there's something constructive I may be able to do for them. I take nothing from them at all.

I doubt that any club owner (whether that's football or rugby) does the job with survival as their ambition but they all realise the club, above all else, has to be sustainable. We don't have a clue how much money is needed to run a club, or how much any owner contributes. But I don't see anyone queuing up to take over at Club Doncaster, do you?

Ditto, same old statement "Hail the all conquering Savior" but it still boils down to existing not progressing.Club Doncaster’s vision is to help instil civic pride and passion in the town of Doncaster. Where's his passion in Doncaster RLFC when he hasn't even seen a flaming game.

Same tired argument, TB never watches a game, no interest in the Town. How very much dare a quite rich bloke treat people like this. Its disgusting.

I have nothing but admiration for what Terry Bramall and Dick Watson have done for the Rovers and The Dons, they stepped in when John Ryan's wealth couldn't match his ambition and Carl didn't have the money to take the Dons any further.

I don't like being negative with my posts ,but the facts remain that under CH's leadership the club has failed time and again on achievable goals and it is always the coach that carries the can as Carl "the Teflon Don" washes his hands of the matter ,to keep himself out of the firing line.
At the end of the day ,he, the CEO appoints the coach and is therefore accountable for performances on the field.

Look at the facts ................ we have stadium that is one of the best in the league , but we still cant sell enough tickets to fill a church hall.
.
I'm sure that with a competitive side and a place in the Championship we would have seen the 1000 season tickets, but until that day comes we will still see crowds of 300 and no hope of promotion.

The fact of the matter is that the public of Doncaster are fickle in their support ... myself included ... although I have by and large on and off supported the Dons for 32 years to press.
The Donny public will come and have a look see and take it from there according to what is served up.
It's universal ... nothing different to most places.

But and this is where all this conflict and negativity is coming from ... there has got to be crowd pleasers ... there has got to be a few big names.

And the fact of the matter is that apart from the odd promising or very promising youngster we have none of the latter.

Once again an entire term ( nearly) of recruitment has passed with not one player to make the stay at home get curious, revved up and want to come and watch the show.
But when this is jumped on the response is 'what do you expect?' 'We are a small player with limited finances.' 'Just be grateful that we have a Dons to watch.'
Well we can't have that and a plan for promotion can we?
The two can't co-exist.
You HAVE to push the boat out to get success.
Donny are not doing that or can't do that yet are talking the talk.
Folk are sick of it.
Give us some big names .... one would do.
And I don't mean such as a 36 year old who has just parted company with his club.
Griffin ...

Well said Stand-offish.

Its now time for Carl to put up or ship out.
I would have more respect for the guy if he carried the can once in a while ,instead of blaming all and sundry for the clubs failure to deliver on expectations.

If he believes that RH is the man to take the club forward.............then back him,
give him the resources to make us competitive and if the team fails to make the grade them he should also fall on his sword and resign.

I know he has a high opinion of himself , especially with the comment on last seasons dugout about turning down a CEO position with a Super League club to remain at the Dons.
The simple facts are that if you are CEO of a Super League club you have to actually do the job you are paid for, and if you fail your out.

Carl prove to the people of Doncaster that you can be a leader and take the club to bigger and better things, instead of blowing your own trumpet with delusions of Super League.

Whilst i understand your frustration just tell me how and why a big name (and its props you need) would come to Doncaster to play in Championship 1 in front of 300 fans.
Griffin is not a bad shout and will end up at another Championship side.
You could always give Andy Lynch a call and tempt him out of retirement.
